At the moment if I open a project with one account, and want to edit/comment on another account, I have to go to Home/recently viewed and switch accounts. It would be great if I could ‘switch accounts’ within the project itself.

Please, make this real!
Please add the possibility to change account inside an open file. If I logged in with two accounts and opened a link through the first account, sometimes I need to access the same file from another account. Now I have to close the file, switch account and reopen the file. It would be more convenient to switch between my accounts within an open file.
Yeah, now it’s such a tedious task, if you have personal and work account. Have to close and open tabs every time
Dear Figma Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share some user feedback regarding the account switching process in Figma.
While using Figma, I have noticed that the current method of changing accounts can be a bit cumbersome. Having to navigate back to the homepage to switch accounts adds an extra layer of effort, and the subsequent need to refresh or restart the app can be time-consuming and disrupt the workflow.
I believe that allowing users to change accounts directly from within a file would significantly enhance the user experience. This streamlined approach would save time and eliminate the need for users to interrupt their workflow by going back to the homepage.
I understand the importance of maintaining a smooth and seamless design process, and I believe that implementing an in-file account switch feature would contribute to achieving this goal. This enhancement would not only increase user efficiency but also align with Figma’s commitment to providing an intuitive and user-friendly design platform.
Thank you for considering this feedback. I appreciate your dedication to continuous improvement and the user experience, and I look forward to seeing how Figma evolves in the future.
Hi there,
Thank you for providing feedback! I will share this with our internal team. Your input is highly valued, and we will take it into consideration for future enhancements.
Thanks,
Toku
Whenever opening a new file, it would be useful to have a way to switch the account you’re on the file as right from the file. Instead of having to go back to home or whatever and changing it there (it’s a bit counteintuitive) (i’ve struggled w this many times)
Hi @Paolo1, Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I noticed another member of the community requesting something similar here, so I combined your post to gather all the feedback together.
Please don’t forget to vote.
Thanks again for your input!
When working with files from two accounts (e.g., Account A and B), Figma prioritizes the account you use most (A). This causes issues when switching to files from the secondary account (B), making them uneditable as Figma misidentifies the user.
POTENTIAL SOLUTION
Introduce a feature to ensure smooth multi-account file management:
- Maintain Account Integrity: Ensure files retain their original account association.
- Session Management: Track and manage active accounts and their files.
- Clear Indicators: Show which account is associated with the active file.
- Seamless Switching: Allow easy switching between accounts without editing disruption.
- Error Alerts: Inform users of account mismatches and provide quick resolutions.
BENEFITS
- Uninterrupted workflow across multiple accounts
- Reduced confusion and frustration
- Effective management of projects across different accounts
Yep we need this, it’s unbelievable you cannot change account as viewers inside the file directly
