Preserving unique content in instances when updates have been applied to component masters

Hello, I’m having issues preserving unique content instances of components.

For example, we recently updated master input field components, and now all instances linked to such components not only has updated constraints etc, but they have now adopted the placeholder text from the master

There are loads of mockups for our form designs that had unique text, which we now have to re-input the unique text for…

I’ve read the article about overrides, and don’t understand why this is happening?

Any advice would be very much appreciated…

What changes have been made to the main component in the library? Did you delete the text layer and add a new one? If so then :

Each layer has its own unique ID. By deleting a layer and adding a new one, the layer IDs will no longer match between the library objects and the design file objects, which is why the overrides are reset.
