Question

New UI: Broken on Firefox

Calum_Benson

Whenever I create or open a Figma file with the new UI in Firefox (currently v128.0.3) on Mac, I can only see half the canvas. Not very helpful…

Hey @Calum_Benson - are you in the desktop app when you see this? If so, does the panel look weird when you are using Figma on the web? If you haven’t tried that yet, can you give it a go and let me know if it’s still showing this?

Also, can you try switching back to the old UI, then re-selecting the new UI, to see if that helps? YOu can do this by clicking the help module at bottom right hand corner (?) and selecting ‘Go back to previous UI’

Calum_Benson

are you in the desktop app when you see this?

No, it only happens in the Firefox browser (Mac). It works fine in the app and in my other browsers.

Actually, when I switch back to the old UI in Firefox, I now see the same issue:

So I’m not sure when this started, as Firefox is my primary Mac browser, and I used to use Figma there quite regularly.

Fwiw, I’ve tried disabling all my Firefox extensions, and it doesn’t make any difference.

Ack – okay, thanks for testing! I’ll file a bug ticket on my end and get back to you when I get more info on my end.

Quick question @Calum_Benson – wanted to cover all bases, and I forgot to ask earlier: have you tried clearing your cache and cookies for Figma in Firefox? Does it still show this after?

Same issue. Noticed it like a month ago. Did clear cache and re-logged in. no luck

Calum_Benson

I’ve just tried clearing cache and cookies too, and also opening Figma in a private browsing window. The issue is still visible in both cases.

I have this problem as well (using Firefox 134 on Linux) -- canvas is only half the window, resizing the window makes no difference. Same across different machines.

Gideon Farrell

The problem is that the canvas element is being given a fixed width and height in the `style` property that is too small. If you change this in the web inspector it resizes effectively but the scaling is off so this isn’t really a solution.

Hey everyone, I am not able to reproduce this issue on my end. For anyone who hasn’t already tried to clear the cache, please do so.

For the desktop app, follow these steps: Clear Desktop Cache

For browsers, here are guides for each:

Also, please make sure both your OS and Figma app are up to date, this can sometimes fix performance issues.

Try reinstalling the app, this can also refresh your setup and ensure you’re on the latest version.

If these issues do not resolve your issue, I am happy to get you connected with our technical quality team to investigate further.
