How to organise and store non Figma files

At present I have an extensive folder hierarchy in a cloud server (BOX) where all the different elements are in easy to find ‘project’ folders with one folder for my XD files. With Figma however the main final Figma file will not be in this folder but stored in Figma separated away from all the source files.
How can I keep my Figma project together with all the other relevant files?
How do you do it?

Hi there,

As you’re already aware, Figma maintains all of your design files within its cloud-based workspace. Regrettably, there isn’t a direct solution for storing these files externally, similar to what you might be used to. Your best bet for saving your assets outside of Figma would be to export them.

I’m hopeful that other members of our community might join here and share their own methods for managing this.

Thanks,
Toku

I appreciate your reply. Can anyone see a problem with the possible solution below?

I am now considering saving my Figma work locally on my local server, along with all my other assets. This would keep all the project’s files in one place. Down the road, if I want to re-visit the project I or anyone else (with permission) opens the Figma file saved in the same folder.
This just feels like a dodgy work-around though?
