Hi friends!

The recommended thumbnail size, when publishing to Figma community, is 1920 x 1080:

There is another size, 1600x900, that fits perfectly for thumbnails in the Figma projects view. In the Figma community, the 1600x900 gets cut off 🫣

I guess I’ll create two thumbnails, one for each case.

  • Community 1920 x 1080

  • Project 1600x900

What is your approach?

Hi @Dad_Zurigo, Thanks for getting in touch!

To make sure your thumbnails look just right and aren’t awkwardly cropped, Figma recommends setting the frame’s dimensions to 1920 x 1080.

You can find more details here: Set custom thumbnails for files

I personally tested both 1920 x 1080 and 1600 x 900 on my end, and they both appear to work well as project thumbnails. We are interested in hearing what the community thinks about setting thumbnail size. Please feel free to share your approach!

Thanks!

Hi @Junko3

Thanks for your reply. I tested it extensively and for my needs I ended up creating two different thumbnails, since my thumbnails contain some text, which I didn’t want to be cut off.

I firstly created the smaller one 1600x960 as component and made it pretty resizeable with auto-layout and constrains. That way I needed 2 seconds to resize its instance to 1920 x 1080.

Best

Dad

Hello does the size changed for community files too ?

I saw it was 1600x960, and it’s in 1600x960 in all my community files, did it change ?

Thank you
