Allow us to move the new UI3 toolbar

YESSSS!!! this. I usually have my display directly BEHIND my large monitor, meaning the bottom of the large monitor is slightly cut off by my laptop screen. Now every time I need to switch tools I have to close my laptop lid slightly to do so, very annoying so far.

Itā€™s weird that this toolbar at the bottom UX is usually done on tablet apps for creativesā€¦ but then as we all know, thereā€™s no official Figma editor on tablets so why was this done for Desktops? Such a weird decision unless theyā€™re launching a Figma editor for tablets.

Similar to others who say the toolbar is hidden behind their laptop screens, in some circumstances it also gets hidden behind the Mac dock menu. This requires resizing the Figma window to ā€˜endā€™ above the dock.

Kind of shocked you cant reposition that toolbar to the top of the screen. It would be an improvement to have this feature moving forward.

Thereā€™s a reason no other desktop creative tools have the toolbar at the bottomā€¦ +1 for at least the control to move if up top, although I would argue that it should be the default state for the UI

Iā€™m switching to the classic view just because of this tool bar placement in the bottom center, it interferes so much, until I can move it, Iā€™m reverting.

Hey folks, totally agree - this is fixing a non-issue. Figma was great before, all the new floating toolbars and menus do is add noise around them. Just look at the new floating menus / bars on each side - the space between them and the design underneath is of no use whatsoever, but the design bleeding through adds noise to the toolbar itself. This is a regression actually in terms of usability. Please allow people to stay on the previous UI - I will stay there as long as I can.

It does seem like the new UI has been influenced by Miro, as well as Canva and some other mobile-first, ā€œeasy designā€ apps. I wouldnā€™t mind if it wasnā€™t kind of an industry standard for UX/UI now. I hate to lose that level of usability to Figma trying to court the ā€œautomate away your designers!ā€ crowd.

It would be interesting to see how many Figma users leave the whole menu open while they design. Like honestly I canā€™t think of a reason to minimize the new floating menus, unless Iā€™m presentingā€¦ and they already had a setting for that.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! This toolbar fixed to the bottom is awful. Do you know how big our screens are? And how long it took to train ourselves to go to the top. I would love to be able to DRAG the toolbar right where I am working. Pretty pretty please.

If not, just an option of top or bottom would work.

Iā€™m OK with the trend but I hope thereā€™s an option to have it flushed to either left / right / middle so that if youā€™re right handed, itā€™s easier to grab things on the bottom right.

I donā€™t know I feel like itā€™s so far down that I dont even click on the toolsā€¦ I just memorise the hotkeys!

100% would be better at the top

I much prefer having the toolbar at the top and the panels framed, not floating. Some of my files have the old UI, which I prefer, and others have the new. This threw me off.

Please create an option to have the top toolbar and the framed panels.
