Adding a link to object in slides

Maybe I missed it but I can’t seem to add a (URL) link to a object in Figma Slides, would be nice. I can do with workarounds for now.

What workaround have you used?

Not a strong workaround, but just having the link open in the browser already and just switching towards that instead of clicking from the presentation to it.

If you actually have a prototype in your Slides, you could within the prototype create a link to a url and do it this way too.

My workaround is pasting a transparent text and adding a link to it. Very slow tho, I really hope we’ll get to add links to any elements too

The “Link” section seems to show up intermittently in the right-hand side panel when in Grid view as part of a new presentation. However, I haven’t yet been able to add elements and link them.

I really need to be able to link objects and text to jump between slides or link out to other resources/websites to use Slides effectively. Hopefully, a fix for this is coming soon!

Our design team has been using Figma to create presentations for a while, and the key feature that makes Figma our preferred platform is the extensive prototyping functionality. We were thrilled when Figma announced Slides, but so far are unable to use it because of the lack of prototyping support (right now it seems only text links are supported.) Please build Figma’s full prototyping functionality into Slides!

I have built really intricate prototypes for things like our company newsletter, and was hopeful slides would allow for some of this functionality, but also find this to be pretty limiting as of now. It’s great to see the changes and improvements as quick as they have launched them, but regular prototype features, like wiring any layer to any slide is pretty key in my being able to use it for my needs.

I get it’s for slideshows, but I think many designers see the value in creating self-guided experiences for stakeholders, or internal teams, and linear slide to slide makes that less ideal.

This is a key feature with other slide products that’s sorely missing and a bit blocker for my students who are using Slides as an entry point for learning Figma.
