I get nervous having edit-access to a Figma file sometimes, especially as an engineer. I don’t want to accidentally make a change to something in the file.

It would be great if there was a way to switch myself to a read-only mode (temporarily) to avoid accidentally breaking/changing something.

For now, I’ve just been creating a new branch. If I change something on the branch, then I don’t need to worry.

Really need this feature

is this still not available?

+1, need this urgently!

I’d add one more thought to this: In big teams/projects where branching is heavily used, I think being able to optionally disable editing on MAIN would be really beneficial. With several contributors working in a big library there often are merge issues because some (maybe even unintentioanl) changes were done on Main.

In a big project setup the main should feel more robust and changes must be committed via branches - in code you also would avoid editing the master in a project with >1 contributors.

Still waiting for this feature!!

Woow, guys, really sad there’s no option for browsing the frames in readonly mode :(( It’s so easy to mess something up and even do not notice it.

+1, this is a crucial feature for me!

+1 this feature is really needed

Please I really need this feature. I keep accidentally moving stuff on the project, and keep having to press undo every time. Please it’s very important that you add this feature.

How can one do that?

+1 – I’ve sent a “view” link to myself, but even that required having a separate email account. I just accidentally changed something in a file and landed here
