If you right-click on an object in FigJam and choose “Export selection…” the exported PNG or JPG image includes are large empty space around the object.

Is this intentional? In my use so far it has been unwanted extra space that I need to trim with Figma or another app.

Hey @Steven_Garrity, thanks for the feedback and sorry for the frustration!

This is expected behavior for exported selections in FigJam. All selection types will have a default border applied, and depending on the file type, your exported image can have either a solid, transparent, or grid background.

We’ll pass your feedback onto our FigJam team for future consideration!

@dvaliao can you please share the reasoning behind having this as a default behaviour? It creates extra steps for the users to remove the border and adds complexity. I am currently trying to find a workaround for this for users that only use fig jam and don’t have a Figma subscription. It would be helpful to know if the team is working on fixing this, or giving an option for not having a border when you export. Thank you!

Hey @Andreea_Dumuta, sorry for the trouble and frustration!

This is only expected behavior because this is how the export feature was built in FigJam.

Because users without a Figma subscription can still use a free starter team to remove the border via the workaround and the fact that this topic only has 2 votes, this is not a priority or on the immediate roadmap for improvement for the FigJam team.
