Option to disable "Image resized" when large images are brought in

I regularly need to work with screenshots of webpages, which can be a couple thousand pixels tall. I need these images to be actual size. Can’t do this in Figma cause it automatically scales large images down.

I know there’s a plugin but this seems like a silly thing to rely on a plugin for, there should be an option native to Figma that lets us shut this function off.

Or give us an option to scale the image back up to the original dimensions? (even if the quality’s going to get wrecked)

This has been such a huge thorn in my side!

Please & thank you!

Please tell me theres a way to turn this “Image Resized - Lear more” crazyness off somewhere. I’m not able to import long screenshots without them being “downsized” to an awful size.

Use the Insert Big Image plugin:

Figma

Why do we even have to use a plugin for this. You don’t know the headache of a conversation we’ve had on my team around “plugin governance”. I like a lot about figma, but having to use a plugin to bring in a screenshot accurately is not meeting my expectations as a user of this product.

Exactly, imagine having to use 20+ plugins to have a slightly extended feature set.
Fingers crossed that no plugins break in future time so the workflows stay intact.

Reminds me of the dependencies developers have to live with.

@anon21722796 This is still a problem. Any plans of improving the experience by having image import accurate to their size? I don’t really want the tool to adjust sizing or image quality for me–that’s not a service to me, or a “feature”… it’s a headache.

Lucas_Hall

This is still a problem.

Wow just ran into this problem trying to get images working for a prototype. What a pain to have to re-insert every single image using a plugin. PLEASE fix this!

Renan_Martinelli

Same problem here!! This is sucks!

Lucas_Hall

1.5 months later… Still a problem. Please fix.

Scott_Pargett

Was shocked to learn that Figma scales down images to a max size of 4096 pixels! Makes the product feel dated already. Like back when we thought you’d never need a video higher res than 720p.

Please address this Figma so the professionals can work.

joshmillgate

+1 please cmon Figma

Jeremy_Turner1

I have ran into this issue MANY times. I can’t imagine why your product team would make this decision. Please fix.

katterheinrich

@Figma_Support this is a ridiculous limitation. Please allow your users to import long/large screenshots without compressing them into oblivion.

Client: “Can you send me a PDF of the screendesign”
Me: “No, I am using Figma. Sorry!”

Do you find that funny? Yeah, me neither.

This is absolutely still an annoying problem.

This is ridiculous, I’m working on fast prototype that need screenshots, I’m sure I’m not the only one, how come this is even implemented in the first place?

Paulopinto

Having the same problem here. Prototypes look blurry and low quality

Jonathan_Jackson

Any updates @Figma_Support for image resizing without the use of 3rd party plugins? You have Enterprise clients depending on this feature to be at least given an estimated LOE for your roadmap into 2023.

Respond when you can Figma. Thanks from all of your Customers.

The most annoying thing of all time.

Brandon_Scott

I agree, this is a bummer.

Perhaps it’s a $ thing.

Well what if the Insert Big Image plugin stops working or won’t get supported at some point?
This should be a matter of a native setting users should be in control of.

Jonathan40

Who marked this as “solved?” Using a third party plugin to import large images, on a presentation tool application, is not a “solve.” If this is an issue of bandwidth or storage size, there is this new “cloud” thing called AWS…like…seriously, when will we expect to have the distinct ability to import large images without distorting legibility to the point of a rasterized psd from like 2001??

I will not use a plugin to solve this problem. I will use another application that doesn’t have this problem.

Dear Figma,

Designers typically bring screen shots into their work area to collect ideas, thoughts, research, etc. I have been doing this in Sketch for almost 10 years now.

I recently switched to Figma, and while there’s a lot to love, there seems to be equally a lot to hate.

I won’t be using Figma as much in the future, I guess.
