Option to adjust distance between objects from the group center

When you pull the small purple handles to adjust the distance between objects they always adjust from the top left corner of the group. When you have a group of objects that are center-aligned I want them rather to be adjusted from the center. Now I have to adjust and nudge, adjust and nudge, etc to see what it will look like.

This could be done by holding the Alt-key while dragging the purple handles.
