  1. Describe the problem you’re experiencing and how your idea helps solve this

I like to work on my iPad Air with Apple Pencil. It’s great in Miro app. Lets me deal with comments or make small adjustments while away from the big screen.

Now Figma is not very useful on mobile browsers. Most tools are disabled.

One workaround is Figurative app but that is only marginally better and not developed for the last few months.

  1. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

  2. Ask questions to bring the community into the conversation

(e.g. Does anyone else experience this? Is anyone using a plugin or workaround to help solve this?, etc.

Anyone tried this on Android tablets? Some funky workarounds like connecting keyboards or hacking browser settings?

I guess it’s okay on Windows based tablets and convertibles, at least non ARM based ones.

What about phones?

And what about proper companion app, like Miro has?

Thanks!

We have to maintain this subject alive until they release the app ahah

I would like to work exclusively on iPad, and Figma is sadly the only software not available for such devices

iPad or iOS fully featured Figma will require an unique app development because mobile OS do not give a full control over the cursor and interactions with it (hover, pressed, etc.). Flutter framework faced the same problem when was porting to the web platform. If Figma is not already working on it for a few years, we will not get it soon (as mobile app is not frequently updated with more and more features I guess it’s not the plan). But with the release of the last iPad we can wait for Apple solution on WWDC next month, as these new Pro models can now compete with laptop performance and iPad OS may become closer to Mac OS. Even just browser support of Pencil as a pointing device with keyboard shortcuts would be enough and Figma can adapt existing browser app very quickly. Fingers crossed.

As a user in the apple environment minus owning an iPad but is thinking of getting one, this is a deal breaker to me since it’s my main design tool. I guess I just have to stick with my macbook for a while.

Just want to add my plus one to this. I would LOVE if Figma came to the iPad as a native application. Even if it’s just a properly supported wrapper that lets the iPad Magic Keyboard and trackpad work like it does on the Mac desktop app. I think this is the one app that is keeping me tied to my Mac. Please Figma!

With these new M4 iPad Pros it’s about time for a native Figma app for iPad!

I agree 100%! I’d love to see Figma on the iPad. It would be a game-changer for using the iPad Magic Keyboard and trackpad just like on the Mac. Please make it happen, Figma!

FigJam recently launched very interesting few updates on iPadOs, that include better controls on touchscreen. That let make me think they are actually really working on a real Figmap app !

And if you don’t think so, let me dream ! x)

bump ! would love to see a native Figma app on the iPad. it shouldn’t be that hard — if blackmagic could port davinci resolve, Figma can surely be ported to the iPad

The iPad has been an extremely powerful and capable device since the release of the M1 chip. I prefer it as my daily driver and am seeing an increasing amount of people using iPads as their personal computer around me.

The current version of Figma for iPad isn’t worth installing as the web editor switches to it by default after installing, blocking you from using the design tools on the web. But at the same time the web interface lacks important touchscreen controls like undo, redo, copy, paste, and contains a few bugs that prevent regular use (notifications menu dismisses when tapping, fonts aren’t supported).

The latest overhaul of the Figma interface announced today at Config is a promising future and has so much potential to be ported to this device.

Please consider an update to app that takes this platform seriously.

This is so much more important than a redesign.

Yeah BlackMagic’s port is one of the most impressive iPad ports I’ve ever seen. They actually took it seriously and even have hidden areas from the PC version that are fully fleshed out too.

Dear Figma Team,

I’m requesting two enhancements to improve Figma on iPad:

  1. A fully functional Figma app for iPad with complete editing capabilities.

  2. Support for using iOS-installed fonts in the Figma web version on iPad.

These changes would significantly enhance the usability of Figma for iPad users and expand creative options.

Thank you for considering these enhancements.

I agree they should implement a full operative Figma app for tablets. I use a Samsung Tab S9 and I can edit with chrome as easy as in my PC, but IDK why if it already runs in explorer they dont make a full edit app for tablets as well

Yes, I just bought the iPad M4, and it’s running well

So they could totally make an iPad app

Can they enable Figma to work on an iPad Air or iPad Pro fully unlocked?

You can actually use it on Safari, or Google. The problem is that they have to do improvements about the touchscreen

Im all in with iPad Pro M4 on the go. Please make it happen. 🙏

I would also love to use Figma on Ipad to be able to use it with the touch functionality! I just got a notification on my desktop to upgrade to the new Figma installer and noticed that the iPad app have been renamed to FigJam and have a new app icon instead of being called Figma and using the logo. Could this mean that they are about to release a full on Figma app for iPad? I certainly hope so at least, fingers crossed.

Does anyone have feedback on using the apple pencil pro in Figma on the ipad M2 or M4?

I’ve seen limited info and seems like the pencil pro doesn’t work on Figma on the ipad, is this correct?

As I progress through my career path, laptop has become less useful for me. I mainly use an iPad for everything now. It can join meetings (share screen, wide angle camera, reliable mic, etc.), taking notes, edit photos (hobbyist photographer).

Figma is the only thing I need that doesn’t support iPad right now is kind of a bummer.

I Would really want to get a workflow where I do my most heavy tasks at my desk with the mac studio, but also can do some work on the go or in the couch with an iPad. I know that there still are some limitations, but how well does the browser or Figurative experience work?

I’m also on the fence on which size to get. The 13" screen is appealing, but the 11" looks more comfortable to use in the hands, and then theres the price difference as well (a quite big difference here in Sweden). Is there anyone here who uses the 11", and is it too small for Figma tasks?

hey, as of today, figurative is basically abandoned and Figma on ipad is pretty useless (just viewing and comments). FigJam works ok on ipad.

I have the 11 and never missed the 2 inches, on the contrary, I may consider a mini next time. most stuff I do on it is: meetings and reading, occasionally sketching or writing, for which there is plenty of space.

I’ll consider a 13 only as a full replacement for macbook, but that doesn’t look realistic anytime soon.

Personally, just having a super-solid wire framing / sketching experience in Figma iOS would make me happy. In the new FigJam app, yes I can draw with the pencil, but I’d love to see the lines auto-straighten themselves (when activated), when I start drawing a shape the app would offer to auto-complete (and straighten) that shape.

Having an iPadPro 13 with magikeyboard and not being able to use it to make design… I’m very sorry 😦

You can use Figurative
