  1. Describe the problem you’re experiencing and how your idea helps solve this

I like to work on my iPad Air with Apple Pencil. It’s great in Miro app. Lets me deal with comments or make small adjustments while away from the big screen.

Now Figma is not very useful on mobile browsers. Most tools are disabled.

One workaround is Figurative app but that is only marginally better and not developed for the last few months.

  1. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

  2. Ask questions to bring the community into the conversation

(e.g. Does anyone else experience this? Is anyone using a plugin or workaround to help solve this?, etc.

Anyone tried this on Android tablets? Some funky workarounds like connecting keyboards or hacking browser settings?

I guess it’s okay on Windows based tablets and convertibles, at least non ARM based ones.

What about phones?

And what about proper companion app, like Miro has?

Thanks!

Additionally for the Sidecar hack, I’ve found that the modifier keys (command, shift, etc.) and the onscreen keyboard on the side of sidecar actually make editing with the Pencil actually work when you’re holding the iPad.

I really like the way Adobe illustrator works in iPad.

As you guys have already merged with Adobe, its easy for you guys to have a discussion with Adobe team on the UX.

All the best team Figma. Waiting for the iPad version.

One thing that would do the job is adding support for Figma Font service on iPad. As figma.com works nicely on Safari, the thing that lacks most is access to custom fonts installed on iPad OS. Maybe users would not mind waiting for proper application for longer time in that case. 😉

Figurative is nice, but it is abandoned by the author and with each OS update its usability is worsening.

I really like using my iPad pro to work on - but the only app that doesn’t work there properly is now Figma.

Could we either have the iPad app support the Figma design tools, or else support it better/properly in Safari on the iPad?

I’m thinking a lot of people are asking for this, would like this? 🤔

Thanks! 😊

I would love to see the full Figma experience on my iPad too. I’d love to make it my primary work device. I don’t really understand what is blocking this from happening today 🧐

Especially now there’s so much money behind the company, eh? 😉

I feel the same. Wish I could use Figma everywhere, even if I’d need keyboard and trackpad.

For me, Figurative has everything feature i could ask for, and it’s really frustrating. If I knew this, I definitely wouldn’t have updated my iPad.

Yes, please! I bought an iPad Pro particularly to work in Figma wherever I want instead of being stuck at home with my PC. Imagine the frustration I felt when I realized that no browser or app on the iPad had enough memory to handle heavy drafts in Figma. I CAN’T WAIT Figma to somehow solve his problem. @Figma_Support pleeease 🥺

Hello there,

I have got a new iPad and I have used Figma on Desktop for a long time. But I want to switch because of Apple Pencil and Keyboard with Trackpad. I thought it might be very helpful if there was a native iPadOS app that works flawlessly and is original by Figma. I know there is a third party app called Figurative but it has some bugs. I also think it is an often requested feature by most of the Figma designers that also work with iPad. Maybe there is something planned.

If you also think so or have infos I don’t have answer please.

We really need Figma software on iPad that is able to edit and create interfaces. We can use the web editor, but it’s not optimized for iPad and we face so many problems. Seriously we really don’t need just a prototype viewer I want to use my iPad to create interfaces without using my laptop. It supports both mouse and keyboard.

a mobile editing function for Figma and Figjam, since the application only allows review and comments, but not editing, and it would be a very useful function for those like me who only have mobile as a tool and want to edit the content on the go

The Figma app on both iOS and Android are great for quick commenting but as a remote design lead I want to be able to use Figma’s Pencil tool to annotate and give clearer more helpful feedback. Sometime you just need to sketch out an idea or thought and nothing would beat a tablet, pencil and doing this directly in Figma.

As is, I use a notebook, photograph it and upload to Figma, or just write a long complicated comment thats not overly clear. Pencil with a mouse is just not a goer for me, its one of my favourite features but terrible with a mouse unfortunetly. Unlocking this on tablet would be magical for helping us give better feedback and explore ideas and not just in FigJam.

It been 3 years!!! Please do this Adobe.

OP here. Still waiting for this.

Commenting features are great but have a lot of caveats compared to desktop experience. No edit yet.

FigJam works on iPad ok, but we need Figma to work there.

Lately, how has Figma worked for you in the iPad or tablet browser? Is it better on Android or IOS? I want something to work outside the home without carrying my Mac everywhere

I prefer editing Figma file on iPad rather than on MacBook. It just a much ideal & effortless experience bc iPad has cellular connectivity which MacBook don’t. I always be like aww mann I came up with some cool/interesting ideas and I want to mock it up rn using either Magic Keyboard or Apple Pencil.

Here’s an example of concept I created using Figma & other tools on my 12.9” M1 iPad Pro

I think I can speak for many when I say this – why isn’t there an editable Figma app for the iPad yet? Many designers lean heavily on their iPads these days – they’re literally our sketchbooks. Figma has literally let up multiple generations of iPads, hell, even the Apple Pencil.

Figma, one of the most used tools in the UI/UX world, isn’t adding itself into the iPad’s app store, insane. We’re talking about a device that’s practically a mainstay in our workflows, yet we’re left juggling other apps that don’t hit the same mark. Sure, there’s a cost to developing an app for a new platform, but let’s be real – the iPad’s been around for a hot minute.

And it’s not just about convenience. This is about staying relevant, tapping into the full potential of what our tools can do. We’re in a world where adaptability is key, and right now, Figma’s holding out on us. The competition’s already there as well, every day Figma isn’t on the iPad, it’s just another day that they fall behind. We have apps like Canva, Miro, Figure, Adobe, hell even Photoleap that somehow picked up the memo and made editable ui/ux/draw/sketch apps for iPad.

So, Figma, I think it’s time to make a move. We’re waiting, when the hell will you guys catch up?

I’ve been using Figma for years and definitely expected iPad editing capabilities to come sooner than they have (i.e. at all). I know the focus has been on variables and dev mode recently, but I hope designers’ wishes for a full-featured tablet app haven’t fallen by the wayside!

I love Figmajam and use it mostly for brainstorming. I think it’s very crucial to access and edit FigmaJam files on mobile at least from the browser vertion on the mobile devices. Right now it’s very inconvenient, if you have some link or screenshot that you want to add in FIgmaJam you have to save it somewhere else on the device and when you have PC or Ipad - add it. In 95% I bet everyone forget to do it…

Still no fully features Figma for iPads… That a shame we can’t even work with the web-based version using a mouse and keyboard it’s too hard to work with it.

Hey All, thanks for your feedback!

This is already on our radar, but we con’t have an exact timeline to provide just yet. We’ll continue to pass your feedback along to our team - stay tuned!

I have Xiaomi pad six, Is external keyboard needed for designing in Figma?

The iPad M4 is here, we need Figma on iPad OS

Amen. Affinity thought of it right, this app would be even better as an iPad first app.
