I would like to add a max-width to a text box while using auto layout to keep the word count per line at a reasonable minimum.


Currently, I have the text element set to “Fill Container” which makes the text respond very nicely to the screen size. But because it is set to “Fill Container”, the text spans the entire width of the element which makes the text lines more difficult for users to read quickly.




If a max-width was set, the component should respond until it reaches the max-width, which would help keep the line length down.


I also feel like there are many other circumstances where max and min-width would be extremely helpful


Anyone else having this issue? Or does anyone have a great fix/hack to get around it?

We have buttons which should have a min width of 100px & height of 36px, most of the time this will be met but in some cases when the text is small eg: Save or OK, the button will shrink down too small and adding an invisible line will only mess with the height. This will also confuse developers in handoff where the whole design will be full of hacks. So I think this is a small ask.

Minimum and Maximum Width as well as Min and Max Height for Auto Layout is definitely needed!

min-width, max-width and min-height, max-height are really needed when creating components with auto layouts and trying to design layout supporting a number of languages.

100% we need this feature. +20,000,000,000 …does this feature still not exist? everyone really needs this.

+1. I have been waiting for max/min-height in Figma for a while. As key css-properties this is almost a must in Figma Also.
