When i move my design elements/frames/etc., I expect all the pinned comments to move with them – but they don’t. instead i’m left with a bunch of floating comments (that are not attached to anything), which requires me to manually re-read each comment and move it again to its correct place. this is frustrating and time consuming. but what’s worse is when another user forgets to move the comments after they move the design elements, so when i return to the Figma file it’s very difficult to decipher the floating comments because they are not pinned to anything so i have no idea what they’re referring to. please keep Comments pinned to design elements (so moving design elements automatically moves comments).
This isn’t working for me. Can you explain how this is done?
Has there been any resolution on this? Incredibly annoying.
While this might work at a top level frame, I like to have have my frames in auto layout to keep everything tidy.
This breaks the functionality of “pinning” to a frame so I end up ungrouping to have the pinning functionality at a high level.
However the issue bubbles up in frames that have auto layout and things shifting around alot.
Can we pin to a frame or group regardless if it’s a parent or not? Pretty pls?
a couple of days ago, my comments were pinned to the frames, I thought the issue was solved which was great. But today the comments are no longer pinned. I wish I knew what I did before.
sometimes it works misteriously, sometimes it doesn’t
Still an issue for me… Not working and loooooots of time spent manually moving comments 😦
Having issues with this as well, nothing seems to stick.
Figma doesn’t natively support pinning comments to nested frames. This is especially frustration for Auto Layout frames whose content moves a lot by definition.
Is there a plugin to support this? I haven’t come across one.
@Gleb, it seems like a temporary solution. And since Figma is promoting auto-layout, which is an excellent feature, fixing it grows in importance as managing heavily structured frames with comments takes a lot of time now. When could we expect comments pinned to just any frame?
I can’t think of any use case were comments would not follow when moving an object. This makes iterative work extremely tedious.
Hi there, is it possible to ping comments to frames so that if you copy/paste your frames on a new page they follow through?
Does pinned comment on Figma already available? If not, I want to suggest that this feature would include on the next update. because I think it would simplify for the UX Manager to put the task list for his team in Figma. For now we usually writing manually on one page named by “Notes” if we want to create a task list but sometime it really tiresome to switch between the pages whenever we are doing a components creation.
Bump. This is not fixed, and it’s very frustrating. I can see Figma acting like it’s attaching a selected comment to an element (a blue box appears on hover), but when I move the element they’re still unlinked/independent. And yes, this works very well outside of artboards, just not in them, which is where they’re needed the most (since prototype viewers comment there).
There is a bug when you drag the comment off the frame and then back on again, the comments don’t stay pinned when cutting an element to past it into another page.
Unfortunately, pinning comments does not work in practice when working with autolayout containers.
As cool as this auto-layout feature is to easily move up and down blocks within this container without having to manually move them, but unfortunately you lose the affiliation of all comments because they stick to the container and not to the blocks inside.
Bumping this isssue. As awesome as auto-layout feature is to keep everything tidy and organized, is this frustrating.
Kind of frustrating that stuff like this needs to be upvoted for reaction… this is essential. try to handle +1.000 comments this way.
Still an issue. I’m currently collaborating on a 58 page report (that will be exported as a PDF), and each page is a Frame. If I reorder those frames or add new frames the comments don’t stay attached. It’s a complete mess.
ISSUE: A big issue at pretty much all of the jobs I’ve had that rely on the comment functionality in Figma is that comments are only able to be pinned to the top frame and not any nested frames within it. In order to organize our flows within each page we use frames to nest our flows in. So with Figma’s current functionality of only allowing a comment to be pinned to the top most frame none of the comments move with their respective frame.
REQUEST Figma, please build functionality that allows comments to be pinned to any frame regardless if it is nested within another frame or not.
When cutting a frame and pasting into a different page in the same file, comments don’t follow/attach. Is there something I’m doing wrong for it not to “follow”?
Can not find it, can you please share the link of the plugin? Tnx
Just wanted to share with you all that I can add comments for new Frames that I make, but it does not work for the frames I previously made, from let’s say a month ago…
🤷♀️
Hi Figma,
I make a lot of prototypes with scrolling behavior. When sharing the prototypes with stakeholders communication is important. It’s therefore annoying that comments don’t stick to elements.
Comments that apply to elements outside of the initial viewing area end up in a pile at the top of the frame instead of being pinned to the intended area.
Would love a solution to this!
Comments carry over when you move a frame from one page to another using the Move to page option from the right-click menu. But I agree that comment shouldn’t disappear when a frame is cut and pasted between pages.
