Dear Figma Team,
I hope you're doing well!
We truly appreciate all the great work you do, and we rely heavily on Figma's comment functionality for seamless collaboration with our clients. They provide feedback on both images and, most importantly, text passages.
However, we've noticed that comments don’t always stay anchored to the layout, which has led to misunderstandings and slowed down our workflow. Even when moving a comment, its original position should remain visible and linked to it. This has been quite frustrating for our clients, to the point where they are considering switching back to providing feedback via PDFs.
To keep them engaged with Figma and fully utilize its collaborative potential, we would love to see this issue addressed as a priority. Otherwise, we may be forced to return to Adobe Reader for feedback, which would be a step back for everyone involved. Additionally, it would be great to integrate features like text highlighting and strikethrough.
We really appreciate your time and support in resolving this, and we’re looking forward to any updates!
Best regards,
Aga
I wish I could upvote this 100x. Not having this makes collaborating with clients an absolute mess.
First post on this thread was 3 years ago. cough cough.
LOL! i thought it was not a pain until i had a whole team working with me on a project with loads of AUTOLAYOUTS happening. where are their comments you ask? well it’s at the same area where you commented on. did not move with the elements which is what you wanted to comment on the first place.
Now i have a whole file with a lot of random comments at random areas with random replies that state if they should close this ticket. it’s hilarious because i do not work with closing those tickets and comments. BUT now i have been given the task to copy past the comments and put them in a ticket. and the OCD inside of me is asking should i delete this and make sure no one sees this anymore or have another random comment near it and be questioned again.
PHEW waw. hard to clean up a figma file and easy to mess up because you have a dynamic space. please Figma help us out. you are wonderful and we do need this because AUTOLayout needs this support ASAP.
Just bumping this covo. There are 7 pages of people wanting this feature and it was brought up 3yrs ago. In that timeframe there have been a number of big changes to the UI and seem like more of a “value add” than this feature.
Create comment, then drag and dock it with an element.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN
(This is an automated translation, so please forgive any ambiguity.)
It seems that this problem has not yet been officially solved.
I have discovered a technique to pseudo-solve this problem.
Below are some simple steps.
- Drag the element to which you want to attach the comment and place it outside the outermost frame. (You can ignore the section.)
- Add the comment so that it is on the moved element.
- Undo with Cmd+Z (Ctrl+Z) and return the element to its original position.
This procedure ensures that the comment will remain attached to the element even if you move it in the future.
The reason for this behavior is that the upper left corner of the element that was on the outermost side when the comment was added is used as the starting point for the XY axis, and absolute coordinate placement is performed.
Using this specification, I intentionally placed the target element on the outermost side and then attached a comment to it to attach it.
I have posted images of the more detailed operating procedure on my blog, so please check it out if you don't understand.

I hope this post will be helpful to all figma users around the world.
Thank you😉
Thank you, @_ENTAKU ! This is definitely helpful. While It won’t be helpful for our figma noobs, and those without edit access, it will definitely be helpful to me and a few design leads.
