Suggest a Feature

First off, let me say that for this post I am using the term “panels”(perhaps mistakingly) to refer to the two UI columns in Figma on the left (containing Layers and Assets) and the right (containing the Design and Prototyping tools). They are contained within the window and are fixed and inflexible. By "palette,” for this post, I am referring to the UI elements in many Adobe applications (but not XD) that are like mini-windows. You can move them around and resize them freely. And show and hide them individually and at will. And save your arrangement of palettes in order to have more than one. One of the biggest problems I have with Figma (and frankly, XD) UI is these panels: 1. Tools and functions come and go depending on what exactly is selected. I find myself frequently searching for a button or a menu that jumps up and down within the panel and sometimes disappears. When I drag a new interaction from a layer to a frame, I would love to have “Open overlay” as an implicit, slightly magical setting, if the target frame is smaller size than the origin one. (I am sure you can define it more precisely, the point is I keep changing implicit “navigate to” to “open overlay” a bit too often and I feel it is unnecessary.) Thanks for considering! 💞

I have a problem with Figma hiding the actual numeric values of layer paddings and margins. It’s always variables, everywhere, unless you really insist. For example, to see the numeric value of the paddings here: I have to click on the corresponding layer, and then hover the variable in the inspect pane. It’s better for dimensions, because while it does say “auto” here, it at least still shows you the actual size: (this is actually a very welcome improvement brought by the developer mode — it was only “hug”/“fill” before that) My idea is that the developer should not be exposed to what the designer has done to make their work easier. Such a setting would make it comfortable for both the designers and the developers — the designer would still use their variables, but the developer would see the raw numbers if that fits their workflow better. No compromises from either side. Or not even a setting, just show the numeric values next to the variables like it’s already done for dimensions.

Why is this still an issue? What does resetting styles back to the default have to do with the prototype flow? It’s been years that we’ve been dealing with this. Hunt and pick every component, waste hours instead of doing something simply. Also - for the hundredth time - when you reset styles you don’t need to reset content (text + icons). That’s just basic logic.

We often use firgjam for whiteboarding and followup with voting via stamps for the most compelling ideas/directions. Within AI, you can sort the stickies, but could they also be sorted by # of votes per sticky note?

Absolutely necessary feature request: 1. Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this Can’t copy/clone the position, width & height, scale, rotation of element 2. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.) Click special button/eyedropper and copy/clone the position, width & height, scale, rotation of element to another similar element. I know, there are plugins doing that. But the call of plugin action leads to termination of currently running plugin. It’s sad.

In FigJam, when I’m focused in the last cell/row of a table, I’m used to pressing “Tab” to advance to the first line of the next row. Current behavior is to advance to another location on the canvas I’m in. This behavior is jarring and I can’t imagine that anyone would prefer this.

Quite often I get many iterations in and realise that I’ve been copying a frame all over my designs instead of a component. I’d like to be able to swap a frame with a component.

Hi, I’m a product manager who uses Figma in collaboration with the design team. I mainly use it to drop comments/feedback on designs and prototypes. I often have to quickly pull up these designs and prototypes to gain stakeholder buy-in, keep management up to date or explain details to the development team. I use the left sidebar to create folders and save the files there. I’m struggling to keep these designs and prototypes easily accessible and quick to find as there are many things within a same file. I’d like to be able to easily access a specific prototype or design within the file from the left sidebar. This can be done but all the design pages and prototypes within the same file have the same name on the left sidebar so I can’t distinguish what part of the file I’m opening. If I could either save the different designs and prototypes with their name on the left sidebar or change the name like saving as, this would be solved and I’d be able to easily find and access the right part

For now, you can assign a boolean to a layer to set its visibility. I’ve seen several posts requesting the ability to negate the value. I would argue that it would be more beneficial to extend this request to using operators: This way, you could do [if myVariable == true], [if myVariable != true], [if myVariable == false], [if myVariable == “step1”], [if myVariable != “step1”], [if myVariable > 3] etc.

This will help to create significantly less similar frames for different states of the same frame. Similar to actions as to overlays—action that triggers other object and not the one that catches the action—it would be very useful to have an ability to influence other objects within the top frame. E.g. click an element and it triggers 1) hiding/showing another element in the top frame or 2) change state of an element in case the element is a component instance. For example, lets imagine design of a week calendar like in Google Calendar with 7 days of a week. In the header there is a button “show/hide weekend”. The calendar itself is auto layout with 7 columns for each day. Instead of creating 2 separate identical frames—one for 7 days and another for 5 days to switch between them—it could be enough to have just one frame for both options if the “show/hide weekend” had an action to turn visibility of two weekend columns within the week auto layout on or off. Request - Our team is using Aha! for project planning. It would be great to have an Aha! Integration with Figma.

This is a small proposal for better management of local styles. For larger projects, our company creates different libraries, and it would be beneficial to have a feature like adding separators to styles. Similar functionality would likely be useful in page management as well. I have proposed my solution for adding separators.

I appreciate the efficiency of the copy/paste styles feature using option+command+c/v; it truly streamlines my workflow. It would be a game-changer if you could extend this functionality to include selecting a prototype arrow and pasting settings from another.

I’d like to draw arrows in Figma not in the design or prototype tab. A separate tab maybe that I can click and start drawing all the arrows on top of all screens. So I don’t have to create a layer apart and spend time with arrows overlapping with auto layout and frames. That way I could share the “screen flow” view only.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to ask for this. It would be very helpful for work presentation and marketing purposes.

I use FigJam to do a lot of affinity mapping for ux resarch notes. I like each user to have their own sticky note color. It would be great to have more color options or a color picker like you do for sections in FigJam. That way I could create an infinite amount of unique colors for each interview and not have to repeat colors after 8 or 9 of them. thanks!

Just thought that it might be a good idea to add a button somewhere so that users can put a FigJam ibto simple mode which would be very close to jamboard. It would help users move to FigJam if they found that it was as easy to use initially. They could click on advanced mode when they were ready. T

We have two modes of theme collection (Light and dark). What if we can change the collection’s mode on click?

Hey folks, Would like to raise my hand for additional device frames being needed, especially for Android - foldables and tablets. To be clear, I am not referring to artboard sizes but rather the frames that appear when presenting prototypes. Feels odd that we have a novelty frame for the Macintosh 128k 😅 before having one for the Galaxy Tab 10". I realise this is similar to a previous request: [More Android Mobile Device Frames needed (for presentation mode)](https://More Android Mobile Device Frames needed (for presentation mode)) But given custom ‘presentation’ sizes has been added since this post in 21’ (without device frame appearing) thought it was worth reiterating, I’d like to see the following: • Ability to download frames (like plugins) as new ones become available (community can submit their own?) • Ability to use a ‘generic’ or ‘agnostic’ device frame on custom sizes (that stretches to any size) • Support for foldable (with an external switch between folded/unfolded)

If you work on a lot of designs, the amounts of concepts will grow rapidly. Each concept goes in a page within a page I have heaps of screens. Some dialogs of screens are completely finished, some are still work in progress and some are concepts. I’ve been using Icons to give some sort of status to my pages. Let’s say, my design is finished I will give it a checkbox → See image. I also use empty pages to make some sort of subdivision in my pages. This system works wel with pages, and also works well with frames like here: I used a legend to document this. Very easy… Does anyone else use this as well for their designs and concepts? I find it’s a good way to give our developers better insight if the page or frame is ready for development or not. It wouldn’t be the first time that a design is developed, without being completely finished. 😃 But I think would be really cool that this was a feature, where you configure some statuses for your entire team and they can use i
