DS that runs with external tokens such as Token Studio or others cannot read the properties of the tokens using viewer roles.
It’s time. Clearly AR/VR is here to stay so I love if Figma could allow us to begin testing our UIs in virtual reality. What does this mean? On a basic level… Be able lock UI elements/frames to 3d space Be able to view prototypes in a headset like the Oculus or Vision Pro What does this not mean? I am not looking for any kind of 3d modeling tool. There’s lots out there already for that Being able to do this will help designers explore and move into this new and emerging space. Plus, I am yet to find a great tool for this, so Figma could take the leap and be a ground breaker in this space, making VR/AR interaction design much more accessible to the masses than it currently is.
When a workflow or a screen-flow change I want to have the comparison tool to highlight these changes for whole sections:
In the screenshot above, I have two layers selected with the same color, but the “Selection colors” feature doesn’t show. If I were to group or frame these two layers, the “Selection colors” feature would show. I can’t easily change the color, because 1 layer has a fill, and the other layer has a stroke. I would love it if the “Selection colors” featured supported separate layers. I think this would be a great LBU / “Little Big Update”
As a Linux user I feel really alienated when using Figma! I love Figma and I love Linux (I’m not willing to give either up) - but you can’t seem to do a lot of things with Figma that others can if you choose to run Linux - no desktop app, no plugin development, and now no local fonts? What else? I understand there are sometimes workarounds for things but not being able to use the same things in the same ways as other users (ie: easily and conveniently) is just rude! So I want to use google fonts in my designs. I’m not sure if it’s even the right solution but I find a reference to a font helper and instructions to install it. But when I find the place in Account Settings it tells me… So is this really some dichotomy where I’m forced to choose between continuing to use Linux (a platform I’ve loved and used for nearly a decade - the only platform I really know in depth) and getting the benefit of using all Figma’s features? More specifically, can I use google fonts with Figma while on th
Figma needs to add a distort/warp text, image, vector feature, a lot like Kittl.com’s distort feature on their platform, it would be really helpful.
When design system maintainers remove a variant from a component, there is a replacement variant that is intended for all current instances of the removed variant to map to. However, currently there isn’t a built-in way in Figma to prompt consumers in their files to make this global update. The missing variant remains as the instance, and there is only a button to “restore component” in the properties panel. My suggestion is to have a “Missing variants” modal, similar to the “Missing fonts” modal, where consumers in their file are prompted to make a decision globally in that file to either keep the removed instance or replace/re-map them to another variant from that component set (or maybe even another component entirely). Quickly mocked up how this could look, following design pattern in “Updates from Main file” modal when resolving conflicts in branches:
The annotation feature in Dev Mode is a game-changer. However, it would be exponentially more useful if each annotation was visibly timestamped so our devs could quickly glean how “new” the annotations (and the changes they’re indicating) are.
I just want to know whether people who have the file open are actually viewing it or the tab is inactive. Very similar to Google Docs, Miro and other collaborative apps.
Hi all, I would appreciate it if i had the option to apply a Figma variable directly from the variables panel. I know this is possible with token studio and it just saves a lot of time because now i need to make the variable, select the layer, find the variable i created and apply it. If i could do a right click from the variables panel and apply to fill, apply to stroke etc - that would be a real benefit to speed up my workflow
Would be nice to drag and drop plugins for example under the export option. Just like photoshop has it with the drag function and the blue highlight bar appears.
We create various components in the library and make screens with a combination of component instances. Currently, we need to write Annotate and Measure functions in the library component in Dev Mode and make them visible in the instance. If multiple designers use Annotate and Measure functions in each project, there is a high possibility that they will write different guides. We need to improve it so that we can manage the guide in one place.
Hi, I have a suggestion to display all related tokens of the component and link them with each other, so developers would be able to automatically locate the relations between tokens (click on one token and be redirected to the ‘parent’ token). Would be also very helpful to export tokens to code (keeping in mind they can be defined in different files). Example: we have defined company brand colors (that change really rarely), then app colors (that use only some of brand colors and will change from time to time), then created semantic colors (they use part of app colors, can change more frequently) — all of them are connected with each other and defined like variables in different files. Unfortunately in dev mode we don’t see the relations between tokens (we see only the last level token) so developers should manually find the relations — that is really annoying as we have big color palette. Developers want to define in the code the similar color logic as we have created in Figma (brand
It would be very helpful for UX Researchers to organize their research on Figjam just like on Figma. Multiple pages would be very helpful for us doing research stuff to have a clear navigation on the steps in doing our research. Thanks!
Currently unused nested components still show up in the layer list (as “hidden”). In Dve Mode they show up “normal”. The ask is not to show them with the closed eye icon as “hidden” but instead do not to display them in the layers list at all.
Add special window for refinement notes, to get them from there right into Refinement table. No one will see your thoughts before you share it. The interface would be more ergonomic
On the “Members” page of the admin section, it’s possible to filter the list by one or more criteria. One of these filters is “seat type”, with the values “viewer”, “full”, and “viewer-restricted”. The problem is, the “seat type” filter doesn’t really do anything: Filtering by “viewer” shows both “viewer” and “viewer-restricted” seats. As a result, it’s not possible to distinguish which people could be upgraded by anyone vs. those whose upgrades require admin approval. Filtering by any value applies the value to any seat type (design, dev, FigJam). So it’s impossible to distinguish between who has a “full” licence for design seats vs. dev seats vs. FigJam seats. “Full” shows anyone who has a full licence for anything. Worse, since our organization has a policy to set “viewer-restricted” for FigJam, selecting either “viewer” or “viewer-restricted” filters (see my first point, just above) shows… everyone. The “Members” page was already a bit difficult to work with when there were only tw
I use my drafts to spin up quick Ideas I might want to mock up in HTML and dont want to commit those files to the company folder structure since they are drafts. The only way i can go and view properties now is if I share the doc with myself on another account.
In the new annotations feature in dev mode, the annotations get minimized into an almost unnoticeable dot. I frequently have developers who are moving fast and miss notes even when called out larger. I shouldn’t have to expect my engineers to zoom in to 200% to see that there are multiple notes because only one is shown by default. I’d like for there to be a toggle on/off or something more prominent when minimized that shows there are annotations that must be reviewed. In its current state I likely won’t use annotations because it won’t be prominent enough and I’ll go back to the old manual way of leaving notes.
Frames sometimes work as folders, would be great to be able to create pages inside pages.
I already unchecked all email notifications and I still get them after a few weeks. Please add an unsubscribe button in your emails. Thank you! 😃
Hi! I’ve been learning how to prototype using Figma and I couldn’t find a proper way to use Smart Animation with an Instant Transition for unmatched layers. The only workaround I could think of was using Instant Transition to navigate + an After delay Interaction which triggers the Smart Animation, but it requires a lot of extra frames and configuration. I think it would be nice to have this feature in the future. If it’s currently supported, I apologize and greatly appreciate it if you can tell me how. Here’s a playground I’ve made to demostrate it better: https://www.figma.com/file/UrYrZnXlLu9cY4YLgAuqwR/Instant-Transition-support-for-Smart-Animate?type=design&node-id=0%3A1&mode=design&t=ziFzZFfH9VFUTPkf-1
Hi, We just realized that this marvelous feature can be quite confusing. Showing Status in the Pages preview looks like there are subpages, especially in our case (see photo) but also in general. Also combined with this request it could make sense to add ‘mixed’ icon in the Pages preview beside of all requested ones.
It would be great to have the possibility to align selected Preferred values. I have a simple component (a row for settings for mobile app). The title is on the left and the button (component) is on the right side. I add some other Preferred values to the button but when I change the button with Toggle (for example) I can’t set its alignment. The button is wider than the toggle. When I swap them, the toggle displays in the center of the place where a button was. PS I tried putting the button in auto layout with align set to the left but it didn’t work PPS I understand that this feature was more for using different icons but it would be useful to upgrade it
Is there any solution to disable this feature? It’s very annoying!
