Hi! I got the new notification design for library updates. For context, I’m managing a design system that’s consumed by several other designers. And it’s already difficult for me to get everyone to keep their files up to date, even when you had the “annoying” notification saying there was an update on the bottom right. Honestly this new design that hides it almost completely behind a dot on the top right of the UI is going to bring me a lot of headaches. I’m gonna have to bother the rest of the team announcing every time I push an update, because that notification is sooo subtle. Are there any plans to improve the updating experience to avoid that? Like forcing automatic updates on the design files, or SOMETHING. I’m dreading how out of date all the design files are gonna become. Thanks!
I use Miro for Mindmaps because it has very comprehensive and easy to understand shortcuts to quickly create Mindmaps. Tab to go 1 level deeper. and Enter to create a sibling element. Would love to see the same in FigJam also
With Google Jamboard ending, I want my FigJam to work like Jamboard and be able to present so that my students can see and interact.
Small thing ; but causes frustration nonetheless. Make the Figma search for Plugin / Widget / Component the same as the FigJam search. Every-time I start typing before considering whether its for Widget / Plugin and I have to fix the search. My mental model is to search for components under Assets so I’m never going here for it so it’s also frustrating that it is the default. FigJam has the experience right in my opinion; so Im not sure why this has deviated from it.
It would be super helpful to be able to see when a page was last edited in the pages panel. Also be able to see when a section was last edited.
It used to be possible to select frames outside of a section and align them with frames inside a section. That was super helpful for organizing screens to present without having to place them in the same section. Would love to have that back. Or hear suggestions for how to achieve this without placing things in the same section.
As you may know, you can add alt text to an image while in Dev Mode through the Property field. It would great if we had the ability to add hidden text to contextual elements in the same manner. Right now, we have to either not use the dev mode option and include alt text in the same manner as hidden text, or we have to have alt text in 1 location via Dev Mode and hidden text in Comments or Annotations. Thanks.
This could be a very simple but welcomed adjustment from Figma that could have great impact on the way we work. Hundreds of times a day we select either a color, text or effect style. The problem is the amount of unnecessary scrolling we have to do to get to the values we want to use. It seems like a very simple code adjustment that would greatly speed up our work.
Hi There, sorry if this is repeated feedback but I tried to search for it and couldn’t find one that matched exactly what I wanted to share. I am working on a component that is basically a ListItem with a padding of 12px. But this component has a boolean toggle to activate a secondary line of text and when this happens the padding should be 24px. To do this I have created a variable to change the padding size, but I have to change this manually when toggling on the secondary text line. The suggestion would be to have the Layer Variable directly on the Boolean Property panel so we can link a toggle with the layer variable for this scenario. Like in the screenshot. If this is already possible to do let me know how 🙂 but since I couldn’t find a way to do it I decided to open this suggestion thread. Thank you!
Hey everyone, not sure if this has been asked before. It would be great if we could save autolayout settings like a style, to keep consistency for things like lists and other ‘laid out’’ UI elements. So everytime you click autolayout, you have the option to apply an auto-layout style that defines spacing, direction, alignment, padding etc… I know you can apply variables, but it’s a manual process for any of the above parameters, and you can make a variable for direction and alignment. I hope it makes sense! Thanx!
Having the ability to create a dataset and then apply that to a component or frame. How? Example: I could have a dataset which would sit alongside variables for colours; each item in the dataset would have a title and hex code. { title: ‘Purple’, hex: ‘#A020F0’ }, { title: ‘Red’, hex: ‘#FF0000’ } Then, you could choose a frame and attach a dataset to the frame; anything inside the frame would automatically apply the data, so now I have two cards inside a frame that have the data applied. Why? One of the annoying things to manage in Figma is components and content. You have to manually go through each element to change and update text or find and replace, but it’s not a simple job. Whereas you could just have a dataset you change, and all designs would update accordingly. I know you could specify strings in Figma variables, but having each item on a line and then creating and applying modes is not manageable. There are also quite a few plugins that offer a service similar to this, but a
It’s a pretty straightforward idea. I just copied a color and created a square, but the square was gray, not the color I copied. Would be nice to skip a couple steps.
Currently, you can use prototyping features to change between variants of a component via the “Change to” interaction. However, a component may have properties other than variant properties, i.e., boolean, text, and instance swap. I would like to be able to modify these properties, too, when prototyping. For my specific use case, I have a component with a boolean property that toggles the visibility of a child element. I realize that I could turn this boolean property into a variant property and be able to prototype the desired interaction via “Change to”. However, this would double the number of variants that I have (each existing variant in the off/false state and in the on/true state) which is not desirable, especially if you’re working with several boolean properties and the number of variants will grow exponentially.
Heyall! Wanted to suggest convert rectangle to frame option. Usercase: When doing quick sketches, I tend not to care about framing groups, or adding autolayout - simply to keep a good creative flow ✨ Once we’ve landed design and choosing which sketches to use going forward, I usually clean up the existing sketches, adding autolayout, name frames and so on. Instead of deleting the rectangle (background), I would like to convert rectangle to frame, where the connected elements simply were added in the frame. Let me know if anyone have a smooth work-around 😃
Hi, I love the Multiple-Edit Mode as it greatly assists me while working with Components, despite hearing some complaints from others. In my case, I am unable to utilize certain hidden functions that are convenient for my workflow, such as Ctrl+2Click to hug content or Alt+2Click to fill the container. In my opinion, the Multiple-Edit Mode is a part of the editing process, so it should not block the editing functions that help keep the workflow going.
Good Day, One thing I was hoping would happen, is that when creating a Component Set, that the original selections I had would be replaced by an instance of their new component, positioning them exactly as they were, with the relevant variant from the newly created Component. If possible, I’d like to see the feature make it to Figma — it would cut out a good deal of menial work!
I lack functionality. When I paste a link to a board, I expect to see a preview card, not just the link text. Alternatively, you could make the context menu either a preview card or just the link text when you insert it. I also want to post a link to external sources in conjunction with any FigJam element Thank you. All in all, everything is super!
There should be a collection module in community resources to save the files in a collection because right now it is very disturbing to navigate through all the resources placed at one place in saves.
When copying text, I, as a developer, intend to apply it the way it was copied, to avoid problems with incorrect manual adjustments. But this does not happen when we use the feature to change the capitalization of a text (Case). If the designer set the text to be changed to uppercase, and I copy it in Dev Mode, it will remain in lower case, even showing in UPPER CASE in the Figma file. For creation mode, I think that the text should not be converted even for creation adjustments, but in Dev Mode it is very important that when I copy the text it comes with the right characters for use. I say this because I had a problem with this recently, the text was in capital letters and I was trusting that I had copied everything correctly, then I discovered that the problem was that it didn’t actually convert the characters.
Allow me to create a prototype/website in Figma, collect to stripe, and actually take a payment. This would help entrepreneurs and designers quickly test variants of an idea. Figma can take a % of sales built on the platform
Thought that I’d suggest adding a percentage indicator on the linear gradient colour selector. When I’m adjusting the colours in my linear gradient track, I’d like to know the precise location where my colours are on the track - a feature currently not included. If the far left of that track is 0, the far right is 100, and I have a colour marker near the middle then I’d like to know if my middle marker is at 50, or 51, or 49. This allows me to be precise with my colours when creating new gradient templates that I can then use throughout my projects. Thanks
When you make a rule guide in Dev move you should be able to copy the px Value that gives you.
I’m prototyping a piece of music making hardware, with certain functions being triggered by combination button presses. I’m using a the iOS companion app to test out interactions, and I thought I could use a combination of variables and if/else conditions to register button combinations. But I’m running into a problems, as it doesn’t appear the Figma prototypes support multitouch? EXAMPLE Button1 is a shift button, and I have it setup so my boolean variable ‘Shift’ is set to ‘true’ on touch down, and ‘false’ on touch up. In other words, ‘Shift’ should be true while I press Button1, and that works fine. Button2 is a mode selection button, that should activate one mode when pressed, and another if Button1 is held. Button2 works fine enough on its own, but nothing happens if I’m simultaneously holding down Button1. This indicates to me that Figma prototypes only supports one touch input at a time. Is this true, or am I doing something wrong? I’ve tried googling it, but I can’t find specif
I think it would be useful to have a time/date stamp tool for collaborative teams. It can help people understand when some items on a board were last touched or updated, which is especially useful for content.
It would be great if you could do some rework on the prototype panel in order to make it more accessible and easy to use, especially when dealing with conditionals. You want an MVP for that? Just allow us to resize the panel, that would already be a massive improvement. Having scroll up and down constantly is a waste of time and leads to quickly lose track of what we’re doing Just look at how much we have to scroll in a simple prototype 😅 Cheers!
