For instance swap component properties, you can define preferred values in Figma. The components you can select for that are organized by page and frame(s) they are located in. I have icons in my project that each are a component which are inside the same frame. Now, for other components I have defined an instance swap property to swap the icon in that component. For this, I checked the checkbox to select all the icons in the icon folder/frame. However, when I create new icon components in the frame, they are not selected automatically which means that I have to reselect all icons for each component that has an icon instance swap property every time I add a new icon. I wish for newly added components to be automatically selected as a preferred value if that component is inside a frame where all other components have been selected already.

like in FigJam, we would like to have music that can be played in joined design sessions.

I find it difficult to find icons or my components when it’s just text so I want the image previews of the assets to come back. It just makes it easier for me to find icons in the panel especially because I don’t always remember what I name my components and find reading/scrolling through so many words difficult.

Since Figma is a great place to do card sorts and organise information, what if there was a way to create an area and turn it into a section? That way, if I had to move a post-it or another object to that section, all I would need to do is click "move to " and presto, the object is moved to that section easily, without having to pan and zoom around the board too many times. This is especially useful if you have a large workshop and lots of ideas to organize.

I currently use Figma to create slides and then use prototype view to present them. However, I have to manually be at the computer to click or press left/right to switch slides. It would be amazing to be able to use a presentation pointer (switch next and back by detecting the buttons for page_up and page_down) and present from afar!

After using the Variables feature for some time, I’ve discovered some problems that could be mitigated like this: The Local variables panel should display the Collection name when Toggling off the sidebar. The panel shouldn’t hinder other panels when multiple ones appear at the same time (auto-arrange windows when another one appears) Allow double-clicking on the Collection name to rename Allow changing the variable type of the existing one Searching variables popover should allow users to collapse the Collection Group of variables in the Collection should display numbers of var similar to the All variables section

The Frame Navigation on shared for prototype view-only needs to be improved. Figma is lightyears ahead in XD but it could take inspiration from how they make the navigation of Artboards much simpler. The logic is hope there’s a page where all frames are displayed and you can search on em and find em, so we do not have to navigate via the prototype itself. It makes the job easier for both project managers, designers, the client and the sales team to look for the page they are talking about with ease. I attached a picture of how XD is doing it but and I added descriptions. In my uploaded image you can search the name of artboard and the specific artboard you are looking for will appear. You got alot of useful updates lately and im sure this will be one of those. In helping those who collaborate with the designer and developer.

In our design system we use design tokens for line height. Example: We see these as part of a “line height toolbox” which depending on context you could override the typographys default lineheight token with any of the four. The same way text alignment is always accessible regardless if youre working with a text style or not. Making this perhaps optional if you have multiple variables/tokens within a segment would be just great. We do the same with letterspacing and fontweight. Up until now we have been using the Figma Tokens plugin which has allowed this. As for now with variables, it is no longer possible which means that we would either have to create a huge set of text styles, or a very annoying solution with modes. Great to see the typography part released with variables though i am slightly disappointed that the relative values are not supported (ex. lineheight %) as countless others have already pointed out.

I preferred the pages to be a dropdown list

We could have multiple colour palettes to switch between and see what best will go with the UI. Now you see we know 3 types of colour blindness, so considering WCAG… some systems are intended to be built for colour blind people as well. So if we create replaceable colour palettes according to different types of colour blindness, we can easily apply different colour palettes and replicate them into the same UI with a single click, instead of manually creating the themes. This feature can save lots of time so we can easily utilize it for creative tasks.

With developers, we often see issues when using or creating translation keys. It would be useful to have a possibility to add comments/metadata underneath a label or its translation key. With this, we would avoid duplicates or bad naming, etc.

The problem is that when I move my mouse to reach the tabs I’ll often accidentally touch the top of the screen, bringing in the OS menu blocking the tabs: I like the way how this problem solved in Safari

I assume you could do this with variables, but en lieu of having to set that up for every file or in a design system, it would be a nice feature to add as a toggle (maybe in developer tools). Basically I envision a toggle that turns off all image assets/fills and non-default text field values. This would help designers build presentation ready designs without having to design separate mockups to communicate data values to developers.

This tag can be utilized also to let the team understand the status of the design: Working on it, Ready for dev, deployed each should have a distinct color.

Hi Figma, Hopefully, later commit messages will be shown in the review update modal if I update an instance, such as when I update all instances on a page or across all pages. Currently, there is no information about what was updated in the review update modal, as shown below: What I need is for a commit message to be shown, similar to the library update, as shown below:

Greetings! When setting up interactive components with Smart Animate there’s quite a few easing options to pick, yet somehow the basic “ease” option is missing. In CSS, the default timing function is “ease”, which translates to bezier values of 0.25, 0.1, 0.25, 1. I prefer ease since it’s been the default/standard option for eons now and I’ve been using it almost exclusively for my animations. If I recall correctly it was also the default timing function in the “Principle” app, which I used before switching to Figma (I’m sure I’m not the only one). So, “ease” being the default option I find it a bit odd it’s missing. I have to enter the custom bezier values every time I set up a component, which is why I’ve had it memorized for years. Please consider adding this timing function as an option. I’d say it should be the default since that’s how it is in the CSS, but as long as it’s just there I’d be happy. Anyway, that’s all, have a great day 🙂

💥 It’s not always obvious that you can play the video of the GIF in FigJam 😀 💡 Solution: Adding a pause status with a bit of grey opacity could help.

Hello, just a simple ask as described in the subject above. By switching the Pin Tab and Reload tab actions, it’ll bring these options in line with the Chrome/Edge’s default position on the contextual menu. That’s it. That’s the small ask if it can be incorporated. Thanks!

Seems an reasonable / figmantlyprudent thing to implement! Please let me know if I’m missing something (perhaps an outstanding plugin?)

Variants are only created vertically below the previous variant. This is a problem for assets such as menus which are vertical in nature. Allow the creation of a new variant horizontally as well as vertically. Ideally if you setup in an artboard, the new variant would be created below or to the right automatically based on the available space in the artboard.

It’s currently really frustrating managing pages in a file right now. I’d love to be able to select multiple pages with standard selection shortcuts (shift, cmnd) so that I can maintain more complex file structures easier, as well as duplicate or delete multiple pages as once.

Hey hey, Im tackling a project where end device don’t have a square pixel ratio. In photosop threre is an option to preview non-square pixel ratio out put and Im looking for a similar solution on Figma.(yes, it means I can do it on Ps but, ya) If any one has any advice or sugesstion on a work flow, I would be really grateful.

I work on design systems in Figma and have done for a few companies. It would be really useful to have the split-screen mode that you see in coding editors like VS Code. If you are trying to align components it is really useful to have them open next to you. I’ve sometimes worked around this having desktop and web views open side by side on the screen. My thought would be that the left and right panels update to match the window you are focused on. Rough Mockup: https://ibb.co/zVWpPgJ

Access favourited files, directly from inside a Figma file. ✅ Smoother context-switching ✅ Less clicks to get to a file ✅ Less journeying to the File browser view
