Minimal UI is awesome! I love how clean it makes my workspace, with fewer distractions. I would love the ability to see a minimal version of my pages and layers when I select an object. Instead of only showing controls on the right panel, please also display a simplified version of the left panel. I often switch layers or pages, so being able to quickly change them after selecting an object would be very useful. I would love to use this mode more as it significantly increases my productivity, but right now it’s very hard to do so.
It would be nice to be able to change a shape without having to start over or use vector. e.g: I i decide to draw a circle, however when I add my content I realise that The content is too much for the drawn, I would like the option to click on that shape and change it to a different shape that addresses my content / copy.
When you click on a component set, the UI will show you which properties are being used and which ones are not. When one isn’t being used it shows an exclamation point. This allows the user to clean up the properties without guesswork. I would love to see something like this for Local Variables. As a bonus, I would love to be able to see all of the places a local variable is being used. That way instead of opening each layer, and hunting for a tag, I could maybe see a list of where it’s applied. Like when you use the search function. 😉
Our developers don’t seem to be able to view the properties of a stroke gradient in Dev- or View mode. If they hit ‘Copy’ on the Border section, they get some line of code describing it `border: 1px solid; border-image-source: linear-gradient(163.37deg, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.2) 0%, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.1) 25.07%); ` This contains the properties like angle and gradient stops, which are not initially visible in the Inspector. Would be lovely to expose those properties in Dev- or View mode so our devs doesn’t have to go through so many steps to view the angle of a stroke gradient. Thanks a lot.
Responsive view makes it easier to communicate with developers about resolutions, but not having detailed adjustments can be inconvenient. It’s good for checking different views, but minimum resolution support is still hard to verify. I thought it would be great to have a feature like Chrome DevTools’ device mode for precise adjustments. So, I added some UI in Figma’s style. Hope it becomes a reality soon! 😀
As far as I can tell (and based on other people’s posts), it is not possible to switch between modes via the prototype (e.g., have a button with a Boolean or if/else behavior to switch between modes). This would be very useful especially when doing UAT since the clients only have view access to prototypes, not the Figma files (and no client wants to do that anyway). So, they can switch between different views/modes with the click of a button. I am really curious why this is not a functionality. Prototypes are for other users than the creators, the perspective should have been from the end user’s.
I am finally starting to come around to UI3 but it drives me crazy that my layersp panel is so tiny and cut off in the bottom left of the app. It’s competing with the pages/assets, so why not give it the same hierarchy or interaction as the File/Assets switcher?
Creating custom templates in Figma Slides is only available on the Organization and Enterprise plans per the Figma Learn article. This is a basic feature of any presentation design software, even for decks designed entirely by individuals. As much as I would love to move our agency away from Google and towards Figma Slides for our pitch decks, this will be a non-starter without this feature. We can’t justify the huge cost increase when no other Organization plan features are relevant to us. Please consider ungating this from the high-cost plans.
Is there a way to send a comment to everyone involved in a project? This feature is essential when working on projects that include a lot of people, and it’s a crucial tool for managing comments effectively. For example, Invision uses @project, and it’s perfect! I look forward to your response. Thank you very much, best regards.
When you select component, its properties show up at the top of right panel. So block with “Position” properties moves down. This is so inconvenient and confusing 🫣 Bruh
I know Figma Slides is still in beta, but it would be really helpful if one could share presentation links easily with people who don’t have a Figma account. I understand I could export to PDFs, but using the full interactivity that Slides offers would be ideal for presentations to clients and partners outside an organization. Also: Adding viewer analytics would be a huge plus in the future.
Please allow us to prevent users from unlocking items on a FigJam board When a board is created and locked, it is to preserve the integrity of the board setup, etc. When any editor has the ability to unlock, it takes ownership away for how the original board was created.
I’m looking for an offline method for showing a prototype to a client, during a Fairtrade. The last chance will be sharing it with InVision offline, but I would like to show animations, transitions etc… made with Figma. I need a quick solution, so I can’t redo it on Webflow. Thank you for your help 🙏🏼
Paragraph spacing breaks if you mix text styles in a single text block. Ideally this would function in such a way as to take on the paragraph spacing per style instead of assuming everything in a given text block wants to use the same paragraph spacing. If the paragraph spacing was inherited by selected items, the same way the rest of the text style is, it would make quick single text block styling possible… Right now you have to create individual text blocks every time the style changes and then merge them with an autolayout, then if you want different spacing you end up with a bunch of embedded autolayouts, which works, but it’s messy.
In the Figma desktop app, I constantly create new files which are by default named “Untitled”. Is there a way I can “right-click” the tab to “Rename” it rather than going to Home > Recents > Recently Viewed > Find Untitled > Right-Click “Rename”
I would love if you could animate between slides as just “Instant” so there’s no true animation and you could add a duration for that. I’d like to have my slides progress on their own based on time, and I can’t figure out how to do that.
I’m constantly finding myself inconvenienced by the inability to view content outside the scrollable frame in design mode. The only options seem to be either changing the size of the frame or toggling outlines to view the matrix code. Neither of these solutions are really that great, what would be great however is if there was a way to scroll inside the scrollable frames in design mode. Perhaps modifier+scroll, or simply when using the scroll while mousing over a scrollable frame. Thanks!
It would be great if we could control opacity when referring to other variables, the same way we can do for plain colours.
The padding within an item in FigJam is dependent on the size of the object, which, as a designer, drives me absolutely batty. I want to have objects of various sizes that all maintain the same padding so that my diagrams can remain consistent; the varying paddings across objects makes my diagrams look sloppy, which is not a good look!
I would love if there was some kind of ‘present’ mode from the edit view. As in, instead of actually pulling up the prototype link or prototype window, I would want to remain in edit mode, but have it zoom/scale to whatever frame I am sharing to a group, and then scroll to the next frame in my flow, but not having to zoom in or zoom out. This would be extremely useful when I am sharing in-progress designs or ideas with a group, and it doesn’t have any interactions or flows added yet, and I find myself just scrolling around and zooming in and out in edit mode, causing my presentation to the group to appear scattered.
Is there any way to import custom webfonts into Figma desktop app, e.g. from some CDN or using woff/woff2 source files? Convertion to other font types seems to be a workaround, but it’s not quite reliable due to possible conversion losses and distortions.
The new UI makes me feel… claustrophobic.
I often find myself moving artboards while making flows and most of the time I’m just looking forward to swap two artboards, but if they are no on the same Z-height, you cannot do that easily, especially if they are a few artboards apart. I was thinking if you have two artboards selected, to have an option to quickly swap those, simply replace XY coords… I guess it might be a very low-hanging fruit, especially that the functionality is there with drag & drop… Many thanks!
I am a bit baffled that I could not find another thread about this. Whenever a setting is changed on a component instance, it is treated as an override even if the value is the same as the main component. There is no easy way to keep track of those overrides, and it often leads to unneccessary mismatch between the main component and the instances. Some examples: I have a button component. The horizontal margin is 20px. At some point in my process, I want to see how it would look if I changed it to 10px on one of the instances. I later decide that 20px worked fine, so I change it back. Now, if the main button component is redesigned so that 16px is the standard value, the aforementioned instance will still stay 20px. The only way to restore this connection is to choose Reset-> All changes (because there is no specific reset for the margin). That will of course also reset the label of the button so I have to enter that again. I have an info card component with some text in it. The t
When working in large design systems with many tokens, I find myself looking for a feature to quickly select repetitive tokens when clicking the “apply variable” button next to the bindable properties. Curious whether this counts for more of us.
