Creating custom shapes in FigJam

IJ1

Is it possible to create my own custom shapes for use as shapes in FigJam?
I am drawing complex process flows, and I need to use a few vector grphics (for example, an octagon) which I created with Adobe Illustrator as FigJam ‘shapes’ so that I can annotate them with text and connect them to other shapes with connector lines.
I haven’t been able to find instructions on how to do this.
Is this doable? If so, please let me know how. Thank you in advance.

Hey @IJ1 , welcome and thanks for reaching out to the community!
This is not possible at the moment. I’ve gone ahead and switched your thread as a feature request so others can vote up your idea and express their interest. Thank you

FigJam absolutely needs a feature for custom shape creation. It could be a true game-changer — well, at least one of the key upgrades that would bring FigJam much closer to becoming an essential tool for professional teams, especially in IT and business process design.

Currently, the built-in shape library doesn't fully cover many real-world scenarios. For example, when working with BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation), it's nearly impossible to stick to the standard visual language. And BPMN is just one example — many IT, product, and business analysts rely on custom diagrammatic standards that require more than circles and rectangles.

Yes, I know there are other tools on the market. And I understand that enterprise users would also need things like automation, import/export in XML, and more advanced logic. But the ability to create and reuse custom shapes — even basic ones — would already solve so many pain points.

Personally, I often need to quickly draft BPMN-compliant flows, and FigJam is the perfect lightweight environment for that — if only I could tweak the shapes to fit the standard.

This feature would not only increase the flexibility of FigJam but also reduce the need to switch between tools for more formal work.
