Compatibility with Font Base font manager software

iCatSG

Hello Figma Comunity,

Recently, Figma Support and I found out that the font manager Font Base is not supported by the Figma font agent and Figma itself.

Font Base is a font manager you can install on your computer that lets you:

  • Organize and manage your project fonts very easily and visually

  • Install and uninstalling fonts quickly

  • Testing fonts within the program without installing the fonts on your device

  • Many other features you can check on their website.

I believe it would be a great idea to implement this since a lot of designers like me like to use font managers such as Font Base to organize our projects and the fonts we use in them.

Well, it took me forever to find this thread and I can confirm that Fontbase is currently not playing nice with FIGMA as of June 3 2025.

That said, I think I have finally resolved the missing FIGMA Desktop app “fonts installed by you” issue for myself (Windows 11 OS).
At least for today. Tomorrow may be a different story.

Yes, I use Fontbase. The activated fonts show up in the base OS fonts folder, but this does not appear to trigger a “repoll of installed fonts” within the FIGMA desktop app.

Note: before I did the following, I only had 7 fonts listed under “installed by you”. This was a serious underestimate, since I actually have 482 font families installed.

If you also seem to be missing installed fonts, try the following steps:

  1. 1.install a single new font into your base OS fonts folder (eg. C:\Windows\Fonts)
NOTE: the new font needs to be completely new and not part of any current font set).
  1. Reload the Figma design tab
  2. Highlight some text in FIGMA and check the “fonts installed by you” tab
For me, my list was instantly updated to 482 fonts

Hope this may help …
I did NOT uninstall/reinstall any part of the FIGMA software.

The above solution does not solve the issue re: Adobe cloud fonts, which is another thread
