Choice on Font Rendertype. e.g. Sharp, Strong, Soft, Softer... Remove Wishy-Washi'ness

Andre_F

Hi there,

there are projects where I need the 100% look of the final product. But smaller system fonts below 16px are too much softened by figmas standard font renderer. That fonts even gets a tick smaller than on the browsers engine. There is no possibility to change the antialias(render)type to get a sharper text.

I havn’t found any possible solution yet. Of course it helps a bit by using “Round to pixels”, but i doesn’t change the smaller appearance of the font when i compare it to a browsers font the same size. I just need it a bit sharper ☀️

Working with softened fonts will never look as the final product nor it will be satisfying while putting color on small text inside the tables. Colors make them look so wishy washi.

Will that be a viable idea?

kind regards

Thank you very much.

I develop on a win 11 system. and each browser has a slight different antialias value or so. But i see both, ff and chrome, as more sharper than Figma. Figma antialias type squeezed the fonts in height a bit. A least Chrome squeezed only its lenght 😅

my colleague, a dev, also says that a 12px font looks more like a 10px fonts. And indeed i used a 14px to make it look like a 12px browser font. Not very useful if a 12px should be sufficient enough.

Anyway. Thank you so far. Its a more “nice to have” but a useful idea.
