Is there any traction on any of these features to search or manage variables easier?

I’ve been hoping this feature would have made it in after beta.

Push. Please add a search. Should be a basic feature for such a powerful tool.

By the end of the year, we will have at least 2,000 variables multiplied by at least four modes. So 8,000 values. Finally make sure that this tool becomes usable.

It honestly blows my mind that this isn’t a feature yet, my use case is simple: I need to change the variable value on a specific token variable I’m using on a component, currently there seems to be no way to alter that variable in the fill options menu, so I make note of the variable and go to find it in the variables menu to update the color.

The problem I’m experiencing is when I go to find this variable in the variables menu there is no search option! So I’m forced to scroll our list of hundreds of token variables until I find the variable I’m looking for. Adding a simple search into the variables menu would alleviate this problem.

I wanted to share a suggestion regarding the accessibility of variables when working with files that contain multiple variables. Currently, when we need to locate a specific variable like “Switch,” we have to manually scroll through the entire list of variables, which can be time-consuming and inefficient.

To improve this process, I suggest adding a search option within the file interface. This feature would allow users to quickly and easily find the specific variable they are looking for, streamlining the workflow and enhancing productivity.

I believe this improvement would be beneficial to many users and help us work more efficiently.

And and I would appreciate your feedback on this suggestion.

How is it possible that this isn’t a feature yet? Are people not using variables enough? 😭

This feature is urgent! Please prioritize its delivery.

Currently, variables can be searched via the Design Panel, but only for selection – there is no way to edit them from there.

If implementing full editing functionality is too complex (which I don’t believe it is), please at least add an option to edit a variable directly from the filtered results in the Design Panel.

Otherwise, finding the variable I need to edit becomes nearly impossible.

It seems like a very simple feature that would bring a lot of value, and almost 2 years have passed since users started to ask for it. Please, Figma, prioritize it finally...

hi Figma!

I currently have 653 variables in 1 of my collections. I mean the figpals are great, love them, but this search functionality would really help my workflow! 🙏🏻

Request to add a search feature to the variables panel. I am using it quite extensively and getting to the right variables is a bit cumbersome at the moment. Since the naming of variables usually is built around a convention then a search feature here would be very effective.

See the top right corner of the screenshot below.

It would ideally have an autocomplete/live search functionality. This might already be in the works, but it wasn’t in the “coming soon” section of the Beta Features page. This isn’t really a feature anyway, but I thought I’d put it on the radar.

Thoughts?

Yes, exactly what I was thinking.
