Let us know what would make Figma better for you.

I am planning a book, and each chapter has a set of sticky notes, which I sort by colour. But I need more colours in order to do this. So I suggest a HEX code selector or something similar.
Hello everybody, I have almost 8000 hidden components (they are without . or _ prefixes) in a library of almost 10000 components. Does someone know how to unhide them so that they appear in the shared library? For now I am right-clicking each hidden component and selecting ‘Show when publishing’, which takes 2-3 secs… So I hope to accomplish this task roughly in 5 hours, if I don’t take breaks…
At this moment Figma can open only frame at prototype view. Sometimes my frame is an instance of component and i have a few or ten or hundred instances that i want to look at prototype, but to open it I have to create frame around the instance. And I think the better expirience to add possibility to open component or instance at the prototype view without creating frame around it
There is vertical and horizontal auto layout, but it would be nice to have 2D auto layout. I.e. aligned bottom right corner of first object to top left corner of the next. Sorry if there’s an easy way to accomplish this without a product change that I don’t know about 😓
I have a set of color variables which I would like to use for text-- and then have the color variables available in the component’s Properties panel. The same question goes for a color fill on a shape. Use case: We have banners that need to be able to change text color between a set of pre-defined Color Variables. The text color is NOT the primary thing that differentiates these banners (so it doesn’t really make sense to make a dozen different Variants of the banner component based on text color), and we prefer not to have our designers ctrl+click on the text box and manually select the Color Variable. Anytime we have to manually select a Color Variable for an Instance, we have issues with the designers just typing in a HEX code or grabbing a similar-looking Color Style. We can kind-of solve this issue for Shapes by using a “cascading components” logic, where we make a “background color” rectangle component with a variant for each color, and then use an Instance of that component in o
Mentioned here as a question, but wanted to post as an idea in hopes it gets noticed again. Very simple, just the ability to set what static frame a video sits on while on the canvas. This is an option for GIF fills already, so it makes a lot of sense to make this possible for video fills as well. I’m 99% of the way to switching from Keynote to Figma for presenting ideas, but this is the one feature that’s keeping me in Keynote.
Currently I face the problem, that when i´m updating a file with recently changes from a Component Library File, i’m not getting any information about the Progress. The File remains blocked without any info whats happening. Would reccomend a Progress bar when i update the Components, that shows at least that some Action is happening. It’s kinda frustrating not knowing, if the System is blocked or how long it takes (simple UX Rule btw to give System-Feedback to the User). When i Publish changes, i see a Progress Info but when Updating nothing is shown
So I recently started using the professional plan on Figma at my company and ran into problems with FigJam. I don’t understand why one can’t use FigJam even the free version because I’m on a professional plan with Figma? During payment I didn’t tick FigJam. I thought since I didn’t pay for the pro version for FigJam that I wouldn’t have access to the pro features but still be able to use FigJam starter version even if its one file or something cause I hardly use FigJam much. Please put a disclaimer or notification that tells the user that he will be charged cause the FigJam available now has pro features along the professional plan…if he didn’t actually pay for FigJam during payment. It’s not clear especially for new pro users dipping their toes. If not this could be considered a deceptive pattern! And I don’t see the reason why we can’t be able to still have the FigJam starter package even. cause I have to maybe use my personal account for FigJam if I ever want to or go to some other
Bulk renaming gives a different (01) number naming convention than duplicating screens (1) Using the number function in the bulk renaming modal gives you a number that starts with (for example) 01. If I then duplicate the page to get the second step of my process in it gives me the number 2 as opposed to 02. I don’t mind either, but I’d very much like for either to adhere to the rest.
Whilst it’s great you can embed or link to components in platforms such as Jira, Confluence and Storybook it would also be helpful to show information on a components spacing, text styles and code views as well. For example copying a component frame url and embedding this in Confluence produces the following view: It would be great if you could also copy a url (maybe when in dev mode) and embed views of the spacing, text styles and code as well. Another option would be to have access to spacing, text styles and code within one embed url and view. However, having the option to separate out has its benefits. Being able to surface out spacing, text styles and code view would allow rich documentation to be created for teams that can be accessed outside of Figma. Figma would still be the single source of truth. At the moment there is the scenario where a developer may need to look at documentation on one platform and then have to dive into Figma to gain other information. Yes, you could ta
What I’d like to do: Have a base level variant component, for example a checkbox with an on and off state. Have an upper (instance) level component that includes several instances of that base level component, ie.: a list of checkboxes, each of which can be clicked to change their own on and off state. In addition, I’d like to have a variable state associated with each of those individual instances, and be able to change that variable based on clicking that instance. For example: clicking on the instance increments (or decreases) the “total clicked” variable value to itself plus (or minus) one. Because a click interaction is set on both the base-level, and the instance-level, the instance level will override the base, and both cannot be triggered. Would love to have a future release that allows same interaction with different outcomes at different levels of the same component.
I’m working on advanced prototyping and sometimes I want to overrule a a condition or an expression, I deleted then rewrite it. I can’t take as copy cause I have many expressions. So could be there any way to make a comment like in IDEs?
👋 Hello everyone, I have been reflecting on how we can improve and grow our community, especially in terms of collaboration and contribution. One idea that came to mind is the ability to fork community files, similar to how GitHub works. 🫡 Why it is important? By having the ability to “fork” files, we can obtain a copy of the original file and create a branch to propose changes. This would allow us to: ✅ Contribute to the libraries we use every day. ✅ Propose improvements and optimizations. ✅ Help with constructive feedback. ✅ Collaborate on documentation. ⚡ Benefits This method would not only give us the opportunity to improve existing files, but would also foster a culture of collaboration, similar to what we see in GitHub’s open source projects. It would allow members to actively contribute, improve and adapt the files according to changing design needs and current trends. 🙌 Conclusion Imagine being able to contribute to projec
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us the option to disable auto update. Seriously, this is a real design flaw, ironic for a UI/UX design app. One of the golden rules is never to update software mid project as it can introduce unwanted bugs. So why does Figma not have the option to disable this?
Hi Figma forum community, My name is Julia and I’m presenting you an idea on behalf of BeLight Software. Our Team developed Amadine https://amadine.com with users of all experiences with vector graphics in mind: from total beginners to the seasoned professionals. Lately we’ve had a lot of feedback from our users who wish to make the most out of their Clipboard on a Mac and iPad. But when copying the objects in Amadine the result pasted in Figma is in raster format. The developers have three types of files they store within Clipboard: PDF file, AMDC file and raster image. For some reason, only the raster image gets pasted. We’ve tested the behaviour and for example with Adobe Illustrator the same process gives a vector result. We would love to deliver the best compatibility to our users and would love to know if something can be changed on either our or your side, so that the pasted result is a vector one. Could you please look into it and offer a solution for this issue?
PROBLEM Deleting multiple pages is painfully slow. The current version of Figma only supports deleting one page at a time. SOLUTION Allow multiple pages to be selected (Shift + Click, or COMMAND + Click) and Deleted (Delete Key or Right-Click > Delete).
So, although I really only started using Figma yesterday, and watching a lot of tutorials and such, There are some things that seem to be a bit too complicated. And as a person who likes to design systems and improve user experiences, these are my initial thoughts and struggles. 1. Styles and variables Designers spend a lot of time and effort creating color pallets, and sizing variables and other common items that most likely never change between projects (with the exception of colors) Now there are styles and variables which is great as it can speed up the process of design, but why is there no way to natively copy styles or variables between projects. There is a cut styles option, but that removes the styles from the host project, in which you then have to repaste to maintain them, or re upload the project file to get them back again. Also, when i tried copying multiple style categories (such as blue or red, etc palates), the program sure lets me cut all of them (thus removing from t
As an editor, and possibly also as a viewer, I want to be able to see where specific colors (created using local variables) are used. I find it very difficult to search for them.
Recently the Prototype dialog was altered so that the select menus show a truncated list with a down arrow (when the dialog is positioned near the bottom of the screen). When you hover over the down arrow, more options appear. On the surface, this seems intuitive enough, but the problem is that when I do this, my eye scans for the option I’m looking for, and when I don’t see it, I start to doubt if I opened the right select menu, then I have to consider it again and finally remember to hover over the down arrow. Even though I use these menus a gazillion times a day, I am always having to go through this multi-step cognitive process when I don’t see the menu item I am expecting to see. Would prefer how it was before when the entire select menu was visible right from the get-go!
It would be so nice if when connecting to the same component and using it as an manual overlay, it remembers the location so I do not have to manually adjust for all future instances.
Sometimes I take screen shots from Figma mobile app as a wire frame, I wonder if there is a button for the screen shot & an option to record a video for the prototype.
It would be great to have an option to use native macOS cursor.
If developer selects a text frame with several paragraphs they will see the whole text as a single string in the Properties pane or Dev Mode. They then tend to copy and paste it in code or their internationalization database as is, without separating it to several strings — and I can understand them: who will bother manually separating the text? As a result, no distinct <p> tags in production, no spacing between paragraphs, more unneeded manual communication and corrections though. Figma now shows several style definitions in Properties pane but only one text string. I think you can show text divided into several strings, each with separate Copy button.
Figma has become an indispensable tool for user interface design, offering an intuitive and versatile experience. However, creating complete websites and integration with content management systems (CMS) remains a manual and inefficient process. We propose the implementation of a native CMS manager in Figma, allowing designers to connect their designs directly to dynamic databases. This would allow: Interactive prototyping with real data: Designers would be able to visualize and test their designs with real content from a CMS, improving accuracy and end-user experience. Automatic synchronization between design and content: Changes made in the CMS would be automatically reflected in Figma designs, eliminating the need for constant manual updates. Increased productivity: Workflow would be significantly optimized, freeing up time for designers to focus on creative and strategic aspects. Methodology: The CMS manager in Figma could be based on creating tables with different data types, si
Would be nice if the Figma desktop will pickup the fonts as you install them, without the need to hard quit the application each time you install a font. Hope the team takes this into consideration! Thanks!
