Hi, I’m not sure if this is new since the May update, but I wonder why “empty” (all elements hidden) Auto Layout Frames keep the size of the last hidden child (and I do not mean last in the list, but the last element to have been toggled out of view by the user), making them not-0px high even with nothing in them. See here a file with a Frame with three hidden rectangle: the Frame keeps the size of the last child rectangle to have been hidden. When adding a 0-px Frame to the AL frame, and toggling this 0-px Frame off last, the container goes 0-px. In my opinion, empty AL Frames should have a height of 0. What do you think?

As per this discussion - How to disable 'observe' mode - #5 by Dave2 - I think it would be useful to be able to turn off ‘observe mode’. It is very annoying being watched while I work, unless I specifically am trying to share/demonstrate something. It is the digital version of someone looking over your shoulder. I dont want to have to remove people’s permissions from the file just to stop them digitally stalking me.

Every time I exit Figma and come back, the previously selected sort order is lost, and it defaults to "Last modified" – "Newest first". Previously, the selected sorting option was always preserved.

This new bulk edit option is so painful for non designer marketing team memebers to edit on there own. The whole purpose of buzz make it simple for marketing team to edit content on there own. And with now with per frame editing option gone, it has become so difficult for anyone to update content now. Also this new bulk edit feature is too buggy and keeps crashing

Hi there,I was trying to create a slot using the auto layout grid, but then I’ve seen that it is not possible.The slot is useful and can be applied to any frame with any auto layout settings but grid. Grid may be used everywhere to create a responsive layout, but right now it is quite limitating and I have to create many frames to avoid that problem.Is it a feature that could be developed in the future?

Hello! I am a community advocate for FOF, Sofia for Bulgaria and we experience difficulties when we want to use Bulgarian Cyrillic in several fonts with the “Stylistic sets” feature, but Bulgarian Cyrillic just doesn’t work. When I try the same in Adobe Illustrator for example - there are no problems. The only solution we’re able to find is to change the font’s core defaults to this type of Cyrillic, otherwise, it is impossible to use the stylistic set in Figma. Best Regards, Daniel Dungyov

Hi,Problem:When we have huge files with a lot of pages then doing search functionality freezes figma. Let’s say Figma finds it after taking sometime and the person continues their work. However, the problem is that when they click on search the same keyword that was typed before retains and makes the search freeze again. Now, either the person has to reload file or wait again to complete the search and retype something different to do another search. Solution:One solution that comes on the top of my mind is that the search functionality shouldn’t execute autmoatically until the person presses enter to search.Regards,Hamza

I use percentages in a project for the letter spacing. I can’t use variables to achieve this value. It always defaults to pixels.

My company is setting up our component Figma file to have collections be where we add each compontent type, then groups will have all the variables for that component. We’re setting it up this way so we can use modes for all the different brand’s design languages. The only point of friction is that collections can’t be collapsedIt would be helpful to have the ability to:Collapse collections Remember the collapsed/expanded state Optionally collapse all collections at once Ideally hide collections that aren't currently being usedThis would be especially valuable for larger design systems with multiple brands, modes, and token categories.

In our system we use a medium weight of 500 which indicates Bold for our brand. Is there a way to control the new cmd+B style when applied to a text string and not use the currently assigned 700 (Bold)? Thanks

Figma motion does not currently have the ability to play and export video fills, so video objects are treated as static images. The ability to incorporate video objects into the timeline would be extremely helpful. Exposing the current frame of a video as a keyframeable property be a great solve. 

Hi, the checkbox “Show in exports” in the “Fill” section is not controllable yet from the plugin API. It would be great if this can be exposed via plugin API so it can be automated in plugins. This would also allow Figma Assistant to use it, it currently can’t. My real world use case would be in automating tasks surrounding icon libraries. Thank you! 

Please, let us move only some  elements of the group to the back layer. Now the whole group moves together, but I’d like to leave the ceed on the front layer and move the green sticker with the question to the back layer so when my student pulls the ceed, they will also drag a question or a task from behind the background. It’s really useful for interactive teaching, as well as some variety of flipcards, random question wheels, multiple choice quiz makers.  

Please, allow us to move the black panel to any convenient place! when I and my students want to write any text, it covers all other text above or below, especially, when the text is small. We’d like either to call it only if necessary, or to be able to move it much further from the text being edited. Thank you!   

I’m new to prototyping with variables, and I’m finding the learning curve is pretty steep 😅 I’m trying to build my own variable troubleshooter in my prototype that displays the current value for each variable, to help me see if the issues I’m running into are due to my failing to SET a variable, vs failing to properly DISPLAY a variable. But now I find myself troubleshooting my troubleshooter… 😭 Place forehead on desk, repeat rapidly It would be amazing if there was something in the native Figma UI for the prototype that would display the current value for each variable. Then as I interact with the prototype, I can see whether those variables are changing properly or not. It would really help narrow down the culprit for my prototype bugs. For example, when previewing a prototype in Axure, they have a Console panel that looks like this:

Posting to see if there are there any plans to let Buzz Mode users do the following:Change their workspace background color from the default light grey We’ve made some editable assets that need to have white text, so it’s pretty hard for people to read white on the light grey background. Edit text sizes We have many use cases where we’d like to let marketers manually adjust text to approved sizes by themselves without having to be involved each time their text flows outside the text box and disappears.

When i move my design elements/frames/etc., I expect all the pinned comments to move with them – but they don’t. instead i’m left with a bunch of floating comments (that are not attached to anything), which requires me to manually re-read each comment and move it again to its correct place. this is frustrating and time consuming. but what’s worse is when another user forgets to move the comments after they move the design elements, so when i return to the Figma file it’s very difficult to decipher the floating comments because they are not pinned to anything so i have no idea what they’re referring to. please keep Comments pinned to design elements (so moving design elements automatically moves comments).

Please answer the questions as soon as possible. Any approximate date to next release.

As a freelancer, I often need to share files with developers, however, not all clients have a paid account and I don’t want to have to pay for a new seat for every developer who needs access to Dev mode or ask my clients to pay for Figma.

Hello,Excited to start using Figma Slides as a presentation tool. I’m glad to see some animation features here, but two big ones that seem to be missing are “With Previous” and “After Transition” on object animations. The current options are “On click” and “After Previous,” but I often want a bunch of disparate objects to animate at the same time rather than in sequence. I can get around this by grouping those objects together, but that makes editing and general organization a pain. “With Previous” would solve for this.“After Transition” applies to animations that I want to happen as soon as the new slide loads. Again, I can overcome this by using “On Click” and try to remember to quickly double-click when an affected slide is loaded, but that causes awkward pauses in motion.Thanks for your consideration!

hi Figma, i need your magic. I require both a maximum and minimum character limit for the text property. This will allow me to establish clear guidelines for UX writers, ensuring that their content fits within the designated character limits and maintains a tidy design and layout.

Is there any plan to be able to create the gradient itself as a variable? For example, if I wanted some themes to have a solid background variable but others to have a gradient?
