Question

Subtract command not showing in Actions results

Isaac11

I have vector shapes selected. When typing “subtract” in the Actions search field, the action doesn’t show up in the list of options. When typing other vector boolean actions, like “union” or “intersect”, they do show up.

This occurs in both desktop app as well as in the browser. Subtract would show up in the list of Action options in the previous version of Figma.

Hi @Isaac11, thanks for flagging this!

This seems to have been a bug. I just selected a couple of vectors and did a quick search in Actions, and it looks like Subtract is now discoverable as expected.

Please do let us know, if you’re still not seeing the option on your end. Alternatively, as a workaround, you can also use the subtract selection keyboard shortcut in the future:

  • Mac: Option + Shift +S
  • Windows: Alt + Shift + S

@djv Thanks for getting back to me. It still doesn’t seem to be updated on my end. I still don’t see “subtract” as an option when typing that in the Actions.

I tried:

  • reloading tab
  • restarting Figma
  • drawing two new overlapping vectors
  • creating new file, drawing two new overlapping vectors

Anything else I should try?

I’m on version 125.4.9 of the desktop app.

Thanks for looking into it and the workaround suggestions!

Thanks for following up!

This is definitely odd and not expected behavior.
