Can no longer duplicate my file

One reason why you’re not seeing the “Duplicate” option on a file with branches could be that you’re looking at a branch of that file. The option to duplicate is available on the main file. When you have files with branches please check and see if you’re on the main file, not the branch, and see if you can duplicate the file.

You’ve mentioned your file does not have branches anymore and and you’re not able to duplicate it. Are you seeing this issue in the browser and the desktop app?

Can you please try the following workaround?

You can also duplicate a file by adding /duplicate to the end of the file. This only works when you are viewing the full file URL.

If you have a specific frame or layer selected, Figma will add an ID for that node to the URL. For example: ?node-id=21%3A0. You need to remove any node id’s before adding /duplicate to the file’s URL.

as you can see there are definetely no active branches for the file.

I’m not able to duplicate it on the app or on the browser. Your workaround did work however, but I’d rather not have my team need to rely on something like that.

Any other ideas?

I’m actually not sure why you’re not able to duplicate the file on the normal method. I’ve just created a support ticket on your behalf, so our team can take a look on what’s causing this. Your ticket number is #1150382, for reference.

Our support team usually takes up to 24 hours to reply back to emails - tends to be quicker than that in normal circumstances. However, please be aware that we are facing increased contact volume so there might be a delay.

I was having the same problem, I wasn’t able to duplicate some files (the duplicate option didn’t appear in the dropdown) but I was able to duplicate the files using this workaround. It would be good to have this fixed, but I’m grateful that I was able to have this workaround at least as a temporary fix for this problem.

I’m having the same issue, but the workaround is not working for me. Has there been any progress made with this issue over the last couple of months? Thanks.

Copy link on the file, paste that link in a browser (where you’re already logged in Figma)

add /duplicate at the end of the path while removing any parameter, it’s going to automatically duplicate the file.
