The Slides file is in the same space with my design system files but I cannot see my published colours and text styles within Slides. Is this a known issue or am I missing something?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. To use library in Slides, you need to add. Let me share how to do so.

Add a library to your slide deck

  1. Click Assets in the toolbar.
  2. Click Add your own.
  3. Enter the library name in the search field or browse through libraries available to you.
  4. Click Add to file.

If a library you added includes styles, you can apply styles to objects in your slides. Accessing styles differs depending on which Figma Slides mode you’re using.

If you’re using design mode, accessing styles works the same way it does in Figma Design. Learn more about applying styles to layers and objects →

If you’re using slides mode, you can access the following style types:

Text styles

  1. Select a text layer.
  2. Click the Text style dropdown in the right sidebar.
  3. Click Apply styles to view a list of available library text styles.

Color styles

  1. Select an object with a fill or stroke.
  2. Click the Fill dropdown.
  3. Do one of the following:
  • To add a template color, click the plus next to Template colors
  • To add a color outside of the template colors, select Add color below Others in this deck
  1. Select the Libraries tab to view a list of available styles.

Here is more details on this:

I hope this clarifies the thing, but please feel free to let us know!

Thanks,
Toku

I’m having this issue – for some reason, when I click “add you own” I can see other published libraries, in other projects that my email has access to… but I cannot see the shared library that is published and lives in the same project.

I’ve also run into the same issue, where I duplicated another file from another team, and placed it within my own team and then published it to only that team and isn’t showing up at all.

Hi @Danna Wulf @J.D_Compton

I tried reproducing the behavior here, and it seems to be working correctly. It might be something in your file settings. Would you mind reaching out to our support team directly with a copy of the file? They'll be able to help troubleshoot: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?

Please make sure you use the email associated with your Figma account, include links to the file in question, and share access with support-share@figma.com. Don't worry, inviting us to view your file won't impact your billing.

Thank for your patience!
Toku

After some research, I found the issue was that I hadn’t published a component – it does seem like a buggy experience to exclude libraries that are text or color only... hopefully that gets fixed.
