The built in UI-Kits don’t seem to allow for switching appearance modes anymore. when ever I try to switch to dark mode nothing happens. my personal libraries still work.

It helped me to connect the token libraries in which mods are stored directly to the file. If you only connect the library of tokens with aliases, then the mods will not work.

I’m facing with the same problem. I’ve tested on my 2nd computer where the latest version has been not installed - and all works. The latest one is problematic.
