It should be not possible at this moment to merge two color variables. I am double checking with the team if they have any workaround for this. Will get back to you once I get more information. Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

one way you can do is use plugin and convert all your color styles to variables.

now you have 2 color mode for forexample red, red color style and red color variable.

then you need to use red variable in red style code by using the library insteade of color code.

then if you delete styles your variables will aoutomatically replace in where you use style.
