Hi, I just downloaded the latest Figma update. Now it does not open anymore, I just see the loading indicator of the mac cursor and nothing happens. I also tried to download and reinstall Figma, but that did not work either. Does anyone have the same problem and could fix it?

How exactly do you detach a variable from a layer without deleting it from your local variables list? Right now you have to make the entire thing from scratch or am I missing something?

Can anyone help? I’ve been developing the Figma screens which have been working fine when viewing in prototype mode (e.g. on a specific device) but suddenly when I now run the preview mode, all the settings seem to be lost and the components come out all over the show on the preview screen. Any ideas how to fix?

Hi, Previously I joined a team that was an educational team and need every joiner to have an education account. But now I am no longer an educational account. So I can’t really delete , edit or move any of my files in draft of that team. I wonder if I leave this team, will the files in draft of that team move to “Drafts to move” so that I can move them to my personal team? Thanks in advance!

Hey! I’m unable to launch the “Present” mode anymore with my bigger files. This happened today, immediately after I updated Figma. It just hangs in the loading stage with the progress bar stuck. I can “Present” smaller files though, so this must be memory related issue that surfaced after the latest update?

I see a new interface only for Slides functionality, but can I use all new features (as AI) also in regular file UI?

Hi there. I’m trying to figure out how I can design a dropdown menu component which is not affected by the layers stacking order. Actually, my design system is a kind of a lot of Russian dolls, with component instance customization everywhere. I’ve created a little sandbox file to demonstrate what’s possible, it’s here:Figma – 19 Jun 24 The stacking order indicator is made by the red rectangle. On the left, a dropdown menu which is affected by the layer stacking order, but has some advantages : auto-layout can adjust the menu width…convenient. On the right: the same dropdown menu but this one is not affected by the stacking order. Nice but some problems: the overlay is not managed by the same auto-layout of the selector, so difficult to make its width easily affected Look at the position of the overlay in the prototype interaction → totally impossible to figure out how to set the position of the overlay…or there is something I didn’t catch Feel free to comment, share your thoughts,

Seems like recently the API has changed and has a bug now. Because it used to work around a month ago. We have icons that have a stroke set. The svg export from Figma UI gives icons with stroke but the export from Figma images API gives icons with fill instead of stroke. I ahve had this prototype sitting for a little bit and it hasn’t had this issue at all up until now. When I go to view the Hi-fi prototype of this app design most of the components are squished beyond recognition and scattered randomly around the screen. When I go to design mode I find no complications whatsoever, only when presentation mode is enabled. I’ve tried changing the prototyping device and scale but that doesn’t seem to help whatsoever.

Since the Config, none of my prototypes work properly anymore. Sometimes they work perfectly fine, but if I wait too long or act too quickly, all my “buttons” don’t work and are not in the right place. The only way everything works normally like before is in the “Mirroring” section. However, the prototypes don’t work. It’s very weird.

Seems like theres a bug or I am not understanding how to exit my presentation when I click the Play button/View Prototype button. I have to close the application (Using an 2021 iPad Pro) everytime I need to exit from viewing the prototype.

I’m a designer working on web UI. I want to hand some style parameters to a developer. Historically I’ve done this by going to ‘Inspect’, which was next to ‘Design’ and ‘Prototype’. I’m aware that dev mode now has a cost implication, but Inspect was always a functioning solution. Has this feature now been paywalled? What is the solution to my problem? I currently have a Figma for Education (free) account, and am having trouble publishing a component library. Whenever I try, I get a popup that says “Your plan does not support team libraries. Professional lets you share styles, components, and variables.” However, THIS PAGE and multiple others indicate that users with an education plan can sometimes publish a component library (“Education plan: Team members with can edit team permissions can publish a library.”), but doesn’t offer any info on how to reach those settings. Hello, a colleague left the organization, and one of our teams has no owner now. As an organization admin, I can use the team files and such, but there is no ownership transfer or claim options showing as suggested here: Claim ownership of a project – Figma Learn - Help Center My question is, do I need to claim ownership as an admin? Is there any value or restrictions because of a lack of ownership for a team? If I need to claim ownership, how to do it since I cannot with the suggested support article.

Hi there, I’m building a UI kit and I recently had a whole collection of 100s of component-level variables (color, spacing etc) deleted by Figma and I had to revert to an old file (file 1). Before I did that, I made a copy of my current file (file 2) to preserve recent component updates. After I restored file 1 with the component variable collection in it, I copied the more up to date components from file 2 into file 1. The issue now is that all the variables (and there are a lot of them) in file 1 are referencing file 2. It’s extremely laborious to manually switch the references for every component token. Is there a plugin that could do the job for me? I tried the swap feature of the Variables Pro plugin, but that didn’t seem to do much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Hamish

hi, beginner Figma user here. I’m having trouble with presenting my prototype. I have three frames in 1 component set. when i click present, it says ‘a prototype needs at least 1 frame’ when i add a frame, and present it, the frame inside the component don’t show up. instead the frame that i added shows up and covers the entire thing. and when i put the frame behind the component (its size is just enough to fit the 1st frame in the component), it shows up but i can’t skip to the next frame in the component. also when i put the 1st frame from the component in the frame that i added, i can’t use the “Change to” interaction anymore (which was the reason i turned it into a component set.) please help thank you

How to successfully export arcs, semi-circles and rings as SVGs. Currently, these curve coordinates are converted to paths, making the exports large in file size and difficult for any developer to manipulate coordinates in terms of animations, hover states etc. Any ideas, plug-ins?

In all the design files, there are three default libraries in curated libraries. I don’t need them, but I can’t find anywhere to completely delete them. Does anyone know?

I’ve run into an issue where I need the billing name to be different from my user name in Figma. This is important for managing billing details accurately and avoiding confusion. Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there a way to set a separate billing name that appears on invoices while keeping the project name for internal use? Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated! 😀

Hey! I’m trying to replace the text of a page title in a Figma prototype based on the link that takes you to the page. When I change the variable text used in English text boxes everything works fine, but when I change text in Cherokee syllabary it says “Some missing fonts were replaced”, even though the text block that is linked to that variable is set to Noto Sans Cherokee. Strangest of all, it works fine in the viewer in my local Figma application (linux) but not on the web. The static text using Noto Sans Cherokee shows up fine but it doesn’t work on the web when set via variable. Thanks for any insight anyone might have! Geoff
