Inactive variable mode

Hi Dancus,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. There are two main reasons you’ll see disabled or grayed out modes in your list:

• The variables in that mode have been deleted but are still in use in the selection
• The variables in use in this selection are an out-of-date version, usually because they’re applied to an instance where the update either hasn’t been published or hasn’t been accepted yet.

For visibility, the engineers are looking at how to make the cause of disabled modes clearer and also to make it easier to detach deleted variables.
For the moment, we suggest you publish and accept all updates in the connected files to help make sure all resources are up to date. Following this, if you still see grayed out modes, you can select all (or a smaller set of elements) and then use ‘Detach deleted variables’ command from Quick actions to detach variables from all content except instances, where you’ll need to detach them at a component level and then publish and accept updates.
