How to edit text in a component from MD3 library

Hello, I’m new to Figma in terms of creating designs and for the life of me I cannot find out how to edit a text label in a component I am using from Material Design 3 assets. See below screenshot. How do you customise text? I’m sure it’s something easy once I know how or I don’t have permission. Apologies if this covered else where. Google and searching didn’t return a simple answer. Thanks.

Select Menu list item 1 layer in the layers panel. This should bring up props at the top of the right panel.

EDIT: props used to be at top right, now they seem to arrange differently in UI3.

I have solved this as I downloaded the desktop app. It seems theres something needed in the web browser version on Safari that requires fonts to be installed as fonts were not found.

In fact I can’t seem to type free text! If I use the text tool, it creates the text area but I can’t type anything!

Is the “Label text” prop in the right column not sufficient?
