Is it any figma function to get the file size at a given moment in time?

This question comes related to the fact that I would like to check, by plugin code, the size of the current figma file before and after detaching some components.

To see the file size of a figma file:
Open the respective figma file. There go to,
Left top Figma Icon (or main menu) > View > Resource use.

This is a fantastic tip. Thank you. I had no clue this existed natively in Figma and really needed to discover what is bloating the size of our files.

Hey @EmberN, sorry for the trouble!

Depending on your OS, you can use the Quick actions menu (Command + / (Mac) or Control + / (Windows). Then, search Memory usage:

Clicking on Memory usage from Quick actions will bring up Memory usage within your Layers panel, and you can click Manage memory to see a full breakdown:

@dvaliao Is there an equivalent command or menu option for FigJam files? Memory usage doesn’t show up in the Quick actions menu in FigJam 😢

Heyo @RobKovacs! Jumping in – so there’s something similar in FigJam that may cover what you need.

One thing first: when I reviewed the suggestion I make below, I noticed that there was some buggy behavior with the information being hidden behind the floating UI3 panel, which I’ve already gotten a bug ticket filed for. Wanted to give you a heads up just in case you run into this issue.

Try the following:

Open Main Menu > View > Resource use

Would this work for you?
