Figma desktop app doesn't work

Hi everyone.
Figma Desktop just stopped launching. Didn’t install anything extra (e.g. Figma EX).
Reinstalling does not work.
A white window opens with a button “Login in with browser”, after clicking the inscription appears : “Go to the browser to complete login”. The browser does not open in this case. Opened it separately. Desktop App does not work.

deleted manually in these ways:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Figma\
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Figma\
didn’t help. The app still won’t open.

Helped. 1st way worked (chanching my default browser to microsoft edge)

How do you set the default browser?


I solved this problem by selecting the desired browser in the default application settings (Win 10 OS), the general logic recommended in Google search: Settings > Applications > Default Applications.
After selecting the default browser on the computer, the problem disappears

The login browser button sends me automatically to my default browser on my personal machine. I use a different browser for my work. My Figma SSO is on my work browser and I can’t log in to my SSO on my default browser. So I can’t log in with the Figma App unless I change what my default browser is.

 

This could be solved if the Login with Browser is a regular link which I could copy and paste to my work browser. As it is, if I click on it, and then copy-paste the page it opens to my work browser, it just logs me in to the browser version and it never transmits the authorization back to the Figma app.

Hi Mike, thanks for flagging this! 

I’ve sent this over to our desktop team to investigate. This definitely doesn’t seem to be working as expected. The login workflow should work as expected regardless of the default browser. 

I can’t guarantee a fix just yet, but this is definitely now on the team’s radar for future improvement.

I was having this problem as well and it would be nice for figma to solve. I ultimately had to go into my browser developer tools to watch for the original login request which looked like this

https://www.figma.com/app_auth/abcd-1234-abcd-1234/grant?desktop_protocol=figma&locale=en

to copy into my work browser. In my default browser that original request gets redirected into a url like this.

https://www.figma.com/login?locale=en&app_auth_id=abcd-1234-abcd-1234 

which can’t be copied and pasted to handle desktop login
