Question

Changes are not visible from design library

Mel_Bosch

We have a problem with updating components. We have published the updates, but they are not arriving in the file where the instance is located.

What can we do?

They are not hidden with a point.

Hey @Mel_Bosch , if you have issue with updating components, here are a few things you can check:

  1. Try opening the affected file and running a Quick Action called "Repair Component Connections". This command works similarly to pulling the latest version of the main component, without needing to manually update, re-publish, or accept changes in the subscribed files.

Here are some instructions on running the command below:
    - Open the affected file and select the affected instance
    - From the main dropdown menu in the top left, navigate to the "Quick Actions" search bar.
    -Search for "Repair component connections"
    -Run this command

  2. If this does not not work, please try the command 'Regenerate all instances‘ in the file with the issue (this command found in the same menu) and check if the instances then look correct.

  3. If this has not helped, the another temporary solution that may help is to make a small adjustment to the main component.
Please try the following steps to see if that changes anything:
    - Go to main component, apply a small change to a property of the component. For example, add a stroke or change the weight of the font - just something small that's easy for you to remember and undo afterwards.
    - Publish the update
    - Go to a different file, accept library updates and then attempt to insert an instance of that component. See if the issue is resolved
    - Go back to the main component and reverse whatever test change was applied.
This method of pushing a controlled update in all of the dependent files usually gets instances back in a normal state moving forward.

If you’ve gone through these steps and still don’t see the update in the file, feel free to submit a bug report and include:

  • A link to the affected file (with can edit access for support-share@figma.com)

  • A short description or video showing what’s happening

Our support team can take a closer look. Thank you!
