After I open a file to look at a file with many designs, I frequently accidentally click and move items (requiring an Undo), instead of panning over.
I would like to have a default to the Hand tool instead of the Move tool. It would save me alot of Cmd-Z presses!
This would be especially helpful for me as a PM, who rarely edits the Figma file.
Much useful, specially for developers.
Not to mention, if you enable “Keep tool selected after use” in the preferences drop-down (just to the left of the hand tool), it doesn’t do the thing you may expect it to. Defaults back to Move when you re-open Figma, either in browser or the GUI.
Me, thinking “hand tool” was the kind of tool it is regarding here.

As a trackpad user who can scroll fluidly in any direction, I would not like this. I’ve never, not even once, used the hand tool.

Now I see why the default Move tool changes to the hand every time I go to another page in my document.
That is not making my workflow any quicker.
I can press a space bar if I need a hand. There are enough slowing patterns in Figma as it is. At least leave an option not to change it from the settings.
