Question

Height and width of components changing to decimal values from whole number

The height and width of the components designed on Figma( obviously choosing the whole number from the options Figma itself gives us) is seen to be changed to decimal numbers without our intervention on it. For example - we design a text using the font weight as 16pixels and we come back to see it changed as 16.89. Not sure why this is happening. and this is not only for the text fields but for all the components designed.

Explain a little more “we come back to see it changed as 16.89.”

When I scale/resize a complex component. The stuff inside is certainly not going to know where the lines are so if I resize a box of text items from 240px down to 182px, the text objects inside are resizing too. That makes them end on decimal mesurements. Because math.

Are you having this issue? Or are you getting randoom decimal sizes when resizing just a single object?

How are you resizing? Are you dragging or using the scale tool?

Let me clarify: For example, If I draw a square with the size of 40px (h) and 40px (w), after some time let’s say a day or two days later, the size of the square goes to crazy decimals like 39.4px (h) and 39.4px (w) without any interaction with the square component (not even a single touch). That’s the major issue. Because it’s happening for almost 80% of the components we are working on. Moreover, my design partners are facing this difficulty as well. So, please help us on this.

Yeah that one is weird for sure.

Would you have a file that you can post so I can test it and see what I find?

Indre_Mikaviciute

This is annoyig issue for years and Figma does not solve it.

@Ashwin_Raji  Go to Preferences → enable the ‘Snap to pixel grid’. so it will resolve the decimal numbers issue
