Hi there!
If you would like to give permission to edit a file, I’d suggest you to invite people directly from the file’s share modal.

Invite people from the file’s share modal.
Open the share modal:

Option 1: Toolbar in a file

Click the Share button in the toolbar. You’ll find this in the top-right corner of the file or prototype.

Option 2: File browser

  1. Right-click on the file.

  2. Select Share from the options.

  3. Click the Share button in the top-right corner.

  4. Enter the collaborator’s email in the Email field. To invite multiple people, enter their email addresses separated by a comma.

  5. Click to adjust their permissions.

  • Select Can view to give them view-only access to that file.
  • Select can edit to give them edit access to that file.
  1. Click Send invite to send an email invitation to their address. If they’re already using Figma, they’ll get an in app notification as well.

Be also aware that the FigJam role of the user should be an Editor or Viewer (and not viewer-restricted) on your team. This role overrides any other permissions. In order to edit this file, you will want to give the user an editor FigJam role on your team. Please keep in mind that becoming an editor on FigJam will increase your teams billing. FigJam full seats are charged at $5.00 per month.

The “viewer” role is temporary — it’s meant to either be upgraded to an editor role or downgraded to a viewer-restricted role. The only difference between a viewer role and a restricted role is that the former can upgrade themselves to an editor.

You can have more information on these seats (Viewer, Viewer-Restricted and Full) in this article: here
