Adding an On-Off property to an icon in a comonent

I’m just learning, so I’m sure I’m missing something.
I am simply trying to make a button component with an icon I can turn on and off.
I figured out autolayout and the how to show or not show the TEXT from a toggle, but when I click, double click, deep click, etc. the icon, I do not ever get a “properties” option in the menu. I’ve installed several icon plugins for vector, etc. I have tried making and not making the icon into a component by itself, which yields no change. I can even access an automatically made property which allows me to change the icon itself as long as I make all the optional icons into components first. But nothing I do allows me to simply turn it off. Other than simply deleting it in the child. Is there something I’m missing?
