edit-- I thought Figma wasn’t reading any local fonts, but it is, it’s just not reading fonts that I have legally licensed from Commercial Type. Anyone know why? Maybe a Commercial Type question. Fonts work in illustrator/photoshop etc.

solved the issue by uninstalling Fontbase, it was something unusual Fontbase was doing.
