Question

Can no longer replace image in and instance of a component

Boris8

Since the new update to figma I have not been able to replace and image inside an instance of a component with an image I already have in my figma file. Before I could select the image layer in the right rail and paste my new image over that layer. That feature seems to have been removed and the only way I can change an image in an instance of a component is by upload a new image from my computer to that layer. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution?

I was able to get this to work by selecting the source image, and then selecting the actual image fill layer, and then copying with Command + C. Then you select your destination frame within the instance and paste. Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like to select just the image fill of the source image. You do it by clicking in the small area to the left of the thumbnail.
