As the title says. We are in the process of moving all our files from individual drafts to a paid team. I’m the owner and I moved mine no problem, but the other designer (set as admin) on our team can not move any of his files into the team or to individual projects. He has the newest update to Figma, and I do not. He is set as admin, with edit access both at the team level and the project levels. Please help!
Hey @KelseyONeill ,
Thank you for reaching out to the community, happy to help!
Can you make sure he has:
- edit access to the Project the file is currently located in.
- edit access to the file itself
- edit access to the Project they’re moving the file into
As reminder:
- If the file is in the drafts and in order to move a file, you must have “can edit” access on the file, on the file’s current project, and on its destination project.
- When it comes to files in Drafts, only the user who owns the Drafts folder can move files out of it. This means that even though you own this file, the person whose Drafts it belongs to will need to move it into a team. At that point you can take full ownership over the file and move it freely.
For more information, you can check our Help Center article: Move files between accounts, organizations, teams, and projects
If this still doesn’t help, feel free to reach out directly to the support team with a copy of your file: here Our team can also check your permission right if needed.
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include links to the file, and share it with support-share@figma.com so they can take a closer look.
Just a question to you @KelseyONeill: Did you ever make this work?
We are now facing the same issue and I can’t possibly see how to resolve it. It is definitely not a permission issue.
I’m 90% sure the admin user had to reach out to support and they did a bunch of troubleshooting together. We did do a temporary fix where I duplicated his files and put them in myself, but of course you loose history and comments with that approach. Could help if you need something moved urgently.
I’m sorry I’m not more help. Good luck!
