Typography Scaling with Shift Key

Hey Figpeeps!

Fledging user here . I am unable to fix this bug/issue with increasing type size using shift. Until now, Figma would automagically increase font size by following a type ramp when I pressed Shift + ↑or↓ (for example 16 would to scale up to 24, 36, 48 etc.)

After reinstalling the program, this scaling isn’t available. The Shift + ↑or↓ ramps by increments of 10 (16 would go up to 26, 36, 46 and so on)

Any idea what’s going on here? Any thoughts & insights are genuinely appreciated. Thank you! :yellow_heart:

Hi @Rahul_Sawant, Thanks for reaching out with your question. I totally get why this might be a confusing.

Would you mind taking a moment to check the settings for the “Big nudge” amount? You can find it by following these steps:

  1. Go to Actions/Quick actions
    • UI3: Go to the Tool bar > Click on “Actions”
    • UI2: Figma icon on the top left corner > “Quick actions…”
  2. Search for “Nudge amount”

From what we tested on our end, when I set the “Big nudge” to 10, pressing “Shift” + “↑” increases the text size by 10 (12 > 22 > 32…). Please try adjusting the number to see if there’s any difference.

Also, here are a couple of articles that you might find useful:

I hope that helps clear things up a bit. If I misunderstood anything, please let us know.
Thanks again for getting in touch!

This was exactly it! I browsed over the nudge value earlier, but dismissed the setting thinking it will be about nudging object position vs text values.

Thank you so much for the prompt response!! :yellow_heart:
