Two vector point features mixed up?

R_van_Balen

In Figma two distinctively different features seem to have been mixed up.

  1. Remove vector point
  2. Open up vector

When you remove a vector point, the vector is opened up automatically.

  • There doesn’t seem to be a way to remove a vector point without opening up the vector.
  • There doesn’t seem to be a way to open up a vector in a certain spot

For me this has an impact on my efficiency.

I rarely have the need to open up a vector when removing a vector point.
But I have the need to add/remove vector points regularly.

I never have the need to open up a vector by creating a gap by removing a vector point.
I have the need of ‘cutting’ a vector at a precise location, resulting in two new vector points close to each other.

As these seem to be basic features (KANO) for vector editing, I keep on looking if there isn’t something I am overlooking but I can’t seem to find ways to either just remove a vector point, or two open up a vector.

Am I overlooking things maybe?

If you hold shift while you delete a vector point, it doesn’t break the shape (this is the “delete and heal” tool). Does that do what you’re looking for? (I know that doesn’t address your other question of cutting/opening a shape at a certain point without removing segments, if I’m understanding you correctly.)
