Smooth Scrolling in Figma Prototypes

Deepali_Mane

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a prototype in Figma and I’m encountering an issue with the scrolling behavior. While recording the prototype, the scrolling appears to be a bit janky and not as smooth as I’d like it to be, particularly when using a mouse. I’ve tried adjusting various settings, but haven’t found a solution yet.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for achieving smoother scrolling in Figma prototypes, especially when navigating with a mouse? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there!
Welcome to the community!

First of all, for reliable scrolling across all device, we suggest using the frame structure shown in Prototype scrolling with overflow behavior — can you take a look at this article and see if that helps?

If not, feel free to reach out directly to the support team with a copy of your file, share it with support-share@figma.com, and also a quick video recording if you are able to here. Our technical team can investigate it further and try to replicate it!

I think @Deepali_Mane meant smooth scrolling with a mouse on windows when viewing a prototype. Ive encountered this issue as well. The scrolling experience is awful on windows and is only smooth on mac os.

Hey @Muchiri_Collins ,
Oh, thanks for the clarification! Do you also see any glitches when your are scrolling? And, does this happen in both the browser and desktop app?

As a first workaround, clearing out the cache can help, can you try it and let me know if this helps?
(Please try clearing your cache in your browser and desktop app, restarting your device, and try scrolling again in Figma)

Here’s how to clear the desktop app cache on Windows:

  1. Close the Figma desktop app
  2. Open the Start menu, and paste in this, followed by enter: %APPDATA%\Figma
  3. In the window that opens, delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders if they exist
  4. Launch the desktop app again

As reminder, the minimum operating system (OS) requirements is Windows 8.1 or later.

If this doesn’t help, I’d recommend you to reach out directly to the support with a quick video recording by filling this form here. Our technical specialist can have a look at it.
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include a link to the file, and share it with support-share@figma.com so they can investigate further. Thank you!
