  1. Describe the problem your experiencing and how your idea helps solve this
When you select all (cmd+a) it will use the frame or group you’re within as context in most cases. However, when selecting inverse it will select inverse of all layers, frames, etc within a file. ignoring the frame you’re within.

It would be great if this functionality matched within select inverse.

  1. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

Current behaviour

  • Component selected
  • Press enter
  • All layers are selected
  • Press tab until I reach the layer I want to avoid
  • Press shift a
  • All layers within the document except for the layer that I wanted to avoid

Desired behaviour

  • Component selected
  • Press enter
  • All layers are selected
  • Press tab until I reach the layer I want to avoid
  • Press shift a
  • All layers within the group except for the layer I was on should now be selected
  1. Ask questions to bring the community into the conversation
  • Are there any downsides I’m not seeing here?
  • Is there a particular reason that select inverse selects the whole document instead of contextually using the frame/group that select all does?
  • Can I add any further clarification?
