Hello, Figma team!

I am an active user of your product and would like to propose a new feature that, in my opinion, can significantly improve the workflow for designers and their teams. We are talking about the possibility of allocating a separate editing mode only for texts inside layouts.

At the moment, when it is necessary to make edits only to text elements (for example, to correct typos or change the content of the text), users have to get full access to all elements of the layout, which can lead to undesirable changes. It would be very useful to have a feature that would allow you to edit only texts, without the risk of accidentally changing other design elements.

Such a mode would be useful for copywriters, marketers, and other professionals who interact with layouts but are not designers. It would also reduce the burden on designers, who would no longer have to worry about the safety of all other aspects of the project.

Thank you for your attention and for the excellent product! I will be glad if my idea finds a response in your future development.

With respect,
Abbos Khazratov

I would like to add another voice to this request! Right now we limit design licences to our design team for cost purposes (a design licence is 10x the cost of a collab licence). The #1 reason I have non-designers requesting full licences is to make text changes and I just can’t justify spending 10x the cost only for copy updates. The way that we are handling it is through comments, but unless you are actively looking for comments, there is no way to alert people (e.g. devs) that the text in the mock is not the actual text. It means that things can be easily missed.

It would be really great if text editing could be included on the collab licence.
