In UI3, dragging inside sections moves the section instead of selecting

I’ve noticed that in UI3, dragging inside sections now moves the section itself instead of selecting frames/elements inside it. This is clearly not the usual behavior and I hope it’s not an intentional change, because it’s definitely less useful than before.

I was not able to reproduce this on my end. Are you able to share a screen recording with me. Please also include the layers panel so I can see what layers you’re selecting.

Also can you let me know if this is happening in the browser, the desktop app or both? And have you tried to clear the cache already?

While trying to record the screen I noticed that the behavior I described actually changes based on the window dimensions. This seems to be a really strange bug.

As you can see in the video, if the window is large, the section behaves as a sort of frame, so when I hover over it, it highlights. In this case, click and drag moves the section.

But when the window is smaller, the section behaves differently, similarly to how I’m used to: it doesn’t highlight on hover and click and drag inside it gives me the ability to select frames inside it.

I’m experiencing this bug on desktop macOS app.
Let me know if you’re able to replicate it.

I was also able to replicate this on my end. Let me reach out to the team and ask if this is an intended behaviour.

Also the only workaround I’ve found was to zoom in and select the frames. However, when selecting the section it moves it.

Hey @Joshua_D_Antonio, I’ve got the following information from the team:

This should be an expected behavior because it seems like you are selecting the section first on some of your attempts.
If you select the section, then dragging will drag the section. However, if you de-select the section and immediately click and drag within the section, it will create the marquee to multi-select the items in the section. In your video, it looks like there were a couple of attempts in the video where the marquee selector showed up, but you have to specifically not have the section selected. It seems to behave the same in both UI’s.
